New Quizzes: Ideas to enhance usage for math classes
- A type of question that allows students to type in an equation and automatically get marked correct/incorrect based on the accuracy of the equation. Similar to MathXL.
- Include more in the equation editor such as segment/line/ray accents etc. Similar to Microsoft equation editor.
- Include equation editor in current question types such as fill in the blank, matching, and categorization.
- Fill in the blank: equation editor cannot currently be used in the statement or the answers.
- Matching: equation editor cannot be used in the question/answer pairs. Pictures cannot be used either and would be beneficial for certain math questions such as matching graphs to equations.
- Categorization: equation editor cannot currently be used for the category names or answers for them.
- A type of question where students can graph and automatically get marked based on the accuracy of their line. Similar to MathXL.
- Include fractions in numeric question type.
The current New Quizzes is very limiting for math teachers who would like to be able to assess their students using more than multiple choice questions, whole number or decimal numeric answers, or having the students use the essay feature to type in an equation but then having to grade those by hand anyway. Many teachers would be more likely to use Canvas for assessments if these features got added and I hope you consider doing so.
