Visual Icon system for Group Creation

The grouping system is a little burdensome if you are going to be changing groups up on a regular basis.  For upper classmen in highschool and older the self creation of groups is a work around but for younger students teacher created groups is helpful.  It would be nice to have a visual means of creating groups.  I am imagining the Classroom layouts found in Powerschool but with the added feature of placing students icons into contact with each other would creates groups with in the Canvas system.  This would speed up the process by allowing the quick manipulation of all of the class members.

This idea would be very good for K-12 IDEA and 504. Visual icons or classroom layout might just be enough to help set groups for both students and teachers.

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
