Is there a way to auto-populate groups by grade or graduation date?

I need to open a course and add students to it, but then create groups for 3rd-5th graders and 6th-8th graders. There will be hundreds of students in this course. Is there a way to somehow autopopulate these groups, or would they have to be added manually. I'd also like to be able to remove them from the course eventually by sorting who has moved into the 9th grade and batch delete them. Is this possible?
