The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
In this session, Microsoft will introduce the new Microsoft 365 Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) experience. The new Microsoft 365 LTI app consolidates and enhances the capabilities of multiple individual tools into one convenient solution, creating a more unified and efficient experience within your LMS.
Institutions currently using the Class Teams or Meetings LTIs will need to transition to the new integration once it becomes available.
If you have any questions regarding the Microsoft365 LTI experience, please contact Microsoft Edu Support
I tried Office Hours last time around, but did not convert the time zone correctly, duh. It looks like the documentation points to the classic LTI. Microsoft support whitelisted Assignments for institution but I haven't dug too far into the usage.
I was about to try office hours but checked and mine is working now so maybe it was a glitch that has been resolved.
@adamwarecx thanks, Assignments were in preview and once I got it activated it kind of works. Would love more guides with images though.
That is great news @jonna_radegard. the best place to start that journey would be with the Microsoft resources at the top of this thread. the integration is super fresh so imagine resources will only increase with LTI adoption. Have a great weekend.
Excited to have seen this video in addition to the video from Mike Tholfsen - the bit that I am most interested in was not covered in much detail however, and that is the aspect that related to Teams Classes. Is this now unified with the core Microsoft 365 LTI or is seperate setup required? Also what does that provide, Teams creation and Roster synchronisation as before? It would be great to see some improvements in this area such as improved co-Teacher enrolment based upon Canvas data, and wish wish wish we could have Group synchronisation into Teams Private Channels (know there are some limits on that one but be good to see the first 25 honoured). In my opinion the teamworking experience in Teams is top-notch for an authentic experience for students at university level, so anything that eases that would be great.
I followed the steps for adding the integration on our Canvas Beta site. Then I followed the steps for Microsoft 365 LTI® First-Time Configuration but instead of reviewing and agreeing to the Microsfot Online Terms of service, and then asking our Microsfot 365 admin to provide consent, I received the following error. Did I miss a step? Am I unable to test this on a beta Canvas site? We are completely new to us MS on Canvas, so have never used previous versions/apps.
