LTI Usage Data Available to All Canvas Admins

Summary

LTI Usage reporting is included as part of the core Canvas offering. As part of the Canvas Apps feature, all Canvas Admins have access to a baseline version of LTI Usage reporting.

For future updates related to LTI Usage in Canvas Apps, please refer to the Canvas Release Notes.

 This update provides visibility into which tools are being used, where, how often, and by whom – supporting a more informed and data-driven approach to managing learning technology within Canvas.

Summary

In Ask Your Data, a default pinboard, My Saved Pins, is automatically created for all new users. This pinboard permits users to save and organize their queries and displays results immediately without requiring manual setup.

This update streamlines the initial user experience in Ask Your Data, facilitating an easier start. It also encourages more immediate and frequent platform engagement by enabling the instant saving of insights, allowing for faster discovery and increased value from the tool during early usage.

In the Students In Need of Attention dashboard, users can use variables for personalizing bulk messages sent to all students.

Available variables for message personalization include: 

  • Student Name
  • Course Name
  • Students in Need of Attention Criteria Met 

 

Change Benefit

This update allows admins to efficiently send targeted Canvas messages to groups of students identified as needing attention. The inclusion of these personalization variables ensures recipients have essential context for the message, such as the relevant course name and the specific issues or criteria that need to be addressed.

 

Feature Workflow

 To identify the students in need of attention, select a specific criteria in the Criteria drop-down menu.
