The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 3/26/25.
Enabling the Conversations auto response feature for a user is not currently sending out notifications to any users that send them a new Conversation.
If a user has auto response setup and another user sends them a Conversation, the sending user should be notified with the auto response.
No workaround exists at this time.
Enable the account feature of ‘Enable Inbox Auto Response’.
Create and publish a course that has enrollments
Masquerade as a user in the course and go to their conversation Settings where you will enable an auto response with the current date and an end date in the future
Masquerade as another user from that course and send the prior user a new conversation message. Wait around for a while and refresh your browser and notice that you are not being sent an auto response.
