The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December.
Read our blog post for more info about this change.

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.
Currently, when a user uploads a file as part of an assignment submission, we count that as a file upload in Analytics and not a submission. This means the student does not get a participation counted for a submission with a file upload.
When a student uploads a file as part of an assignment submission, that should be counted as a participation in Analytics (new Analytics and Admin Analytics).
No workaround exists at this time.
Create an assignment that allows/requires a file submission.
As a student, upload a file as your submission.
As a teacher, go to New Analytics and see that the student does not have a participation recorded for that assignment.
