[OPEN] Attempting to clear the until date from a graded discussion does not remove it

Canvas

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.

Description

If you enter an Until date a graded discussion and save, then edit the discussion to remove the date (by manually clearing them or using the “clear” button) and save again, you’ll notice that the Until date remains listed at the top of the page. It is still applying that date for students despite there being no date listed in the UI.

Expected Behavior

If the until date is removed, students should be able to access discussions, that date should not be permanently cached after being removed from the discussion.

Workaround

Edit the Discussion and add an Until date that is set in the future

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a discussion, add a title, content, check the graded checkbox and add an Until date. Save.

  2. Edit your discussion

  3. Remove the Until date

  4. Save

  5. Notice that despite having no until date, the discussion still displays the original Until date

  6. Access the discussion as a student, notice it the discussion is closed for comments
