Discussion redesign split screen view displays the incorrect reply

Canvas

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 7/17/24.

Description

When discussion redesign is enabled and split screen is used, if you click on a treaded reply to view the response in the split view then switch to a different thread of a different student, the author’s name changes at the top, but the contents of the post remains the same.

Expected Behavior

Clicking reply should show the actual author and their corresponding post in the split screen view.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prereq: A course with a couple student enrollments, a discussion post, discussion redesign feature flag on.

  1. Create some posts as students.

  2. Start a threaded reply for each post.

  3. Click split screen mode, and click reply for the first post.

    1. See that the author’s name matches the reply.

  4. Click reply for the second student - The author’s name should have changed, but the content of the reply remains the same.

    1. If you do not experience it at first, switch between the replies of the users and the issue can be seen.
