Change default for Student View Grades page

Is it possible to change the current 'on' default (to 'off') for the Student View Grades Page that states "Calculate based only on graded assignments". Students SHOULD be able to realize that the posted Total course grade is based only on the graded assignments and not a current total. Final assessments with larger point totals WILL affect the overall course grade, but many students are not viewing the overall course total correctly.
