Canvas Assignments to Mastery Tracker

Educators who use both Canvas and Mastery Connect can align assignments and grade Canvas content to a standard from the Mastery Tracker. Also, student scores can be entered directly in Canvas and translated to Mastery results in the tracker. This feature helps users who have both Mastery Connect and Canvas have access to assignments no matter the product in which it originated.

canvasstandard.png

When creating or editing a Canvas assignment, align a Canvas assignment to a Mastery standard by clicking the Select Standard drop-down menu and selecting a single standard.

Note: Multiple standard alignments are not supported for Canvas assignments at this time.

Once saved, the standard aligned to the Canvas assignment displays in the Students tab on the Mastery Tracker page.

trackercanvasfull.png

When assignment is saved in Canvas, it displays in the linked Mastery Tracker as a raw score assessment [1].

When the assignment is graded in Canvas, the scores are automatically imported into the Mastery Tracker assessment [2].

To view the assignment in the Canvas Assignments page, click the Assignment tag at the top of the assessment column [3].

To view more details and options for the Canvas assignment within the Mastery Tracker, click the Tracker Assessments tab [4].

The imported Canvas assignment displays as an Assignment in the Type column of the Tracker Assessments tab.

The Completed column displays the number of students that have been graded out of all students in the course.

In the More Options menu, the Canvas Assignment link opens the assignment in the Canvas Assignments page. The Remove Assessment link removes the assessment from the tracker.

Users also have Reporting, Grade, and Tracker View options.

Note: Removing the assessment from the tracker will remove all scores from the Mastery Tracker.

Cloning Mastery Item Banks

Educators can clone items from third-party (paid) item banks and save and edit them in writeable item banks. This functionality provides educators with the flexibility to customize items to their district needs.

Items can be cloned from the item index, or from the item organizer in the assessment builder.

Select the third-party item bank link.

Select an item to clone, and then click the Clone button.

mibsselectbank.png

In the Destination Bank drop-down menu, select a destination bank.

Notes:

  • Admins can clone third-party items and add them to district item banks.
  • Third-party items that include passages display the passage warning. Third-party passages are the property of the publisher, and access can be revoked at any time.

The item displays in the new item bank and can be edited and saved.

Clone and Re-Align Assessments

Admins and instructors can clone and re-align benchmark and formative item-based assessments. This option allows users to easily create copies of assessments that are aligned to another subject, core, or class.

clone-and-realign-option.png

In the More menu for individual assessments, the Clone & Re-Align option allows users to clone the assessment to a new standard set.

clone-assessment-window.png

The Clone Assessment modal allows users to enter a title, assessment type, alignment source, subject, core, class, and privacy settings. Once the options are selected, click the Clone & Re-Align button.

If an item has a matching standard alignment in the selected standard set, the item will automatically select that standard.

If an item does not have an alignment in the standard set, but the appropriate permissions are in the original item bank, users can choose to add a standard alignment to the item.

These items that do not include the new standard alignment are labeled No Standard. To view a short description of available standards and align the item to the new standard, select a standard name in the Standard drop-down menu.

Alternatively, to select a new standard by ID number in the item posting, click the More Options icon and select a standard from the list in the Standard drop-down menu.

Finally, if the item does not have an alignment in the standard set, is from a bank that can't create or edit items, and the item cannot be cloned, then the item is removed from the cloned assessment with an alert indicating that it has been removed.
