We would like students to have the ability to draw an answer as part of a New Quiz response. Our state assessments and other assessment software allow for students to use a stylus or finger to draw a response to a question. This would be a huge help especially for our math and science students.
This is a feature we would like to have at my school.
I would like students to use their stylus to hand write their response to certain questions in New Quizzes. It would be really helpful if this was an option.
This would be an awesome add to the New Quizzes. I can see a huge need on our campus.
Hi,
Not sure if this will help, but you can create an assignment that allows students to use the Annotation tool. You will have to explain and/or show students how to use the tool, but that's fairly easy.
LockDown Browser can not be utilized with an "Assignment" in Canvas. This is not a solution.
We use Lockdown Browser a lot as we're an online school, yet often require students to print templated exams so they can use a pen. It would be so much better if they could use a stylus within the New Quiz itself.
Maths and Science notations make the most sense, but an excellent example just happened in an exam setting for one of our students.
Because they are taught to annotate texts for an Argument Analysis in English, an unseen text is given to them in the exam. At present they cannot annotate within a new quiz/lockdown browser, so either teachers need to give them multiple texts (5 or so) and then have them be tested on one (a workload waste of time, students can still prepare for those texts) OR it relies on students have a functioning printer 10 minutes before the test (which isn't equitable and runs into issues all the time).
I've seen requests for stylus use in New Quizzes dating back to 2019. Can this please be a priority as some teachers are asking to use Microsoft OneNote and Teams as alternative because Canvas cannot support this functionality (without LDB), despite it being possible in Speedgrader for staff.
This ability will enhance the ability to foil AI submissions as well.
