[ARCHIVED] Quizzes Text Responses Have Gray Box

Hey all,

Today I was grading on SpeedGrader on a quiz where students had to type in their responses. As a foreign language teacher, I constantly keep an eye out for Google Translate etc. Especially during remote teaching.

I noticed that a few students had text responses that had a grey box around the response like so: 

I was wondering, does this mean the student copied and pasted?

That would be my first suspicion. Copying from a website that has a darker background than the Canvas UI would likely come over with the pasted content.

I'm sorry to report that this does seem to be the case. I typed a phrase into Google Translate and copied it into a Canvas Quiz answer, and the formatting looks exactly the same. When I look at the Quiz Log, I see the formatting as well:
