Summary

Canvas Credentials is rebranded as Parchment Award Digital Badges, aligning with Instructure’s unified credentialing ecosystem under the Parchment brand. This update is a rebrand only and does not affect product functionality, workflows, or integrations. New product URLs and branding are live across all production environments.

All user roles, including administrators, issuers, and learners, continue to use the product as before.

  • Access: Users can log in through the Parchment URLs or continue using existing Canvas Credentials links. All previous Canvas Credentials URLs automatically redirect to the Parchment domains.

  • Interface: The user interface displays new Parchment branding and logo. There are no navigation or feature changes.

  • LTI Integration: The LTI name within Canvas displays as Parchment Badges. Institutions that previously customized their LTI name will retain the custom label.

  • APIs: API endpoints and documentation are updated to reflect the Parchment naming conventions. Existing API calls remain functional through redirects.

Production environments with new branding and URLs are available at the following locations:

Beta environments with new branding and URLs were released October 6, 2025. For more details on this release, see the Canvas Badges/Credentials Release notes (2025-10-06).

The rebranding is being completed in two phases to ensure a smooth and coordinated transition across all regions.

Phase 1: Standalone Rebrand
The first phase includes updates to the standalone product interface, APIs, and documentation.
This phase will take place during local nighttime hours in each production region between the late hours of October 30 and the early morning of October 31, 2025.

Once activated, all users will automatically see the Parchment Award Digital Badges branding across the standalone product, including updated visuals and URLs.

Phase 2: LTI Rebrand
The second phase includes all updates to the LTI integration, covering the LTI name within Canvas, Parchment Badges, along with all related LTI pages and visuals.
This update is released globally on November 3, 2025, ensuring a fully unified experience across both the standalone product and LTI environments.

Both iterations are coordinated to minimize disruption and maintain continuous product availability while transitioning to the new branding.

Change Benefit

This update strengthens product identity within the Parchment Award family and supports a cohesive credentialing experience across the Instructure ecosystem. It marks the first step toward a unified platform that allows institutions to issue and manage diplomas, transcripts, and badges together, providing learners with a consistent and trusted way to showcase their achievements.
