I am trying to understand the Roll Call Assignment and how it works to determine how I can set up the requirements in the Assignment module so that when badges are automatically awarded they are only awarded to students with perfect attendance.
My understanding is that if I set the module requirement so that the Roll Call Attendance is set to "score at least" with 100/100 points marked, then when I take attendance the first day, then all student who showed will earn a 100/100. But for the second day if less students show, then only then will the total points be amended to reflect those students who didn't show the second day. Am I understanding this correctly?
If this is the case, then to make sure that badges are only issued to students who complete all the other assignments and earn 100/100 on attendance, then I need to make sure other assignments are not graded until after the last day?

Hi Jessie,
When awarding based on attendance, we utilize the Badge Date Restriction setting.
To ensure the award reflects final grades, we set the award date to the day after grades are due. This timing ensures that the system calculates awards based solely on final grades, issuing badges accordingly.

Hi Sharon,
Hmm, yes I think this would be the way we would have to do it. Have you used the Roll Call assignment in your requirements in the past and have you had any issues with it?
Thanks for the input!

Happy to help!
We’ve used a Roll Call assignment in the past and chose to attach the badge directly to the assignment rather than to the module.
That approach worked well for us after we started using the correct award date. Since badges are only awarded once on the specified date, any changes made after that date would require a manual push to award. By setting the award date to the day after grades are due, instructors have a buffer to make any necessary adjustments—like handling exceptions—before the badge is issued.
All-in-all it worked very well for us!
Okay, perfect! The assignment threw me at first with it automatically being created, so I've been hesitant to add it as a requirement in case there are other features of Roll Call that would make issuing badges strange. This is heartening to hear and thank you again for your help!
