LaTex has no problem, math seems needing a x!=0 condition.
@langlangcat, these brackets do not look like the ones shown in the screenshot attached to the question. They must be larger than they become with \Bigg.
I did some research, for parenthesis larger than bigg you need to define the variable in Tex. I don't know if Canvas supports it, but you can find an editor and copy&paste in the formula in graphic.
