A quizz that I made had two questions wrong answerwed. Many students chosed the corret one and Canvas (ovbiously) graded them as incorrect. Even though I changed the question with the correct answer, Canvas doesn't regreade the quizz for those students automatically and I have to do it one by one. Is ther any way to regrade all the quizzes with the problem?
Thanks
I have this problem, too. I decided to add a point to a question with two answers and just thought that speedgrader would recalculate the results, but no luck.
Thanks.
I found a message that says that for any question of a linked bank of questions, if you change the question, that one won’t change in the quiz, just in the bank. So there’s nothing to do, but change individually the grade of each student.
You didn't mention which type of quiz you were using, so I'll answer for both. Canvas only regrades for certain types of questions. The Canvas Instructor Guide has more information on this.
For legacy quizzes, this includes multiple choice, true/false, and multiple answers questions. This comes from What options can I use to regrade a quiz in a course? When you view that page, there is more information and links to the specifics for each of the three types.
There is a big blue note at the top that says:
If you accidentally published a quiz that needs to be corrected, you can use quiz regrade to edit existing quiz questions and tell Canvas to recalculate student grades.
Quiz regrade only works with specific quiz question types and only applies to students who have already taken the quiz. Adding or removing a question does not trigger the quiz regrade feature. Additionally, changing the point value for a quiz question also does not trigger a quiz regrade; the student's submitted quiz will show the updated point value, but the current grade won't change in the Gradebook. If you have edited your quiz in one of these three ways, you should moderate the quiz and let the student retake the quiz.
This feature only applies for students who have already taken the quiz and only the existing quiz questions have been changed.
If you were using multiple choice, there is an option to change the points automatically, but it's complicated by other issues. Was the question pulled from a question bank or was it part of the quiz itself? If you keep reading, it says
Quiz regrade does not apply to questions linked to a question bank since questions may be used in more than one quiz.
Additionally, adding or deleting answers from a question with submissions disables the option to regrade that question.
For new quizzes, the statement seems perfectly clear at first read, but I have learned to read the documentation from a logical perspective. The statement "Regrading is not available for Essay or File Upload questions" comes from the blue notes section at the top of How do I regrade an assessment question in New Quizzes?
The typical way someone would read that is that there are only two types of questions where regrading is not available. I hope that's what Canvas means, but I don't have access to it right now to do more testing and previous experience has taught me to not read in things that aren't there. A more mathematical / logical reading of that statement would be that "We didn't say anything about multiple dropdowns or hotspots, so the behavior is undefined and it may or may not exist in other cases. All we have said is that it definitely won't work for essay and file upload questions and that it likely never will and we're committing to that in writing."
