Blank grade passed as zero to SIS

When grading an assignment for completion, the teacher uses the "Set All Grades" feature in the grade book to give full credit to all students (10 points). The teacher then goes back and removes the score from any student absent so no score is shown in the grade book (or in SpeedGrader). When Canvas syncs the assignment with our SIS (PowerSchool) the missing score is passed as a zero and also marked as "Completed". Before this year, those students would pass a blank score to the SIS. This year it is being passed as a zero. Is there a way to change this?
