SIS integration and student withdrawl

What  happens with a student account when they are withdrawn in our sis (we use sis integration to powerschool). Does the student account "hang around" for a while in an inactive state? if so, how long? And is there a setting somewhere that we can define how long to maintain withdrawn accounts.

We use PowerSchool at our district and our students actually don't have their accounts suspended or deleted.

We use SSO (and not the native Canvas authentication) so once they withdraw from the SIS they can't log in back into their accounts. So if you're in the same boat as us, you don't need to really worry about students accessing Canvas after they've withdrawn.

I don't believe there's a native setting in Canvas for retention of data.

@matt_whiteside What happens in Canvas when a student is withdrawn in SIS largely depends on the configuration of your SIS Integration with Canvas.  In most cases the user remains active in Canvas (but the enrollments are either deleted, concluded, or inactivated depending on the settings on your SIS Integration).  This is partly to allow data associated with the student to still be gathered if needed.  To determine what the exact behavior is for withdrawn students in your case, you may want to contact Canvas Support.

We use Powerschool for our SIS and have an auto-rostering sync to Canvas.  We also use Google SSO for Powerschool and Canvs. When we withdraw or graduate a student in the SIS but do not remove the email associated with the student within Powerschool, this causes a problem if we re-use that email for another student later on.  Canvas seems to sync to the previously withdrawn/graduated student that still exists in Canvas instead of updating to the new student.  Is there any way to have Canvas only sync with the "active" students in our SIS and delete all the others?  I don't see any reason to keep withdrawn or graduated students in Canvas.  Anyone else experiencing this issue?
