We've run into an issue with term dates that, incredibly, no one seems to have an answer for but needs to be resolved before we can continue setting up our Canvas instance to launch next year.
In a nutshell: We use Skyward SMS as our SIS, and something about the way terms are set up in Skyward is causing courses to end at the 9-week mark in Canvas. So a yearlong course that should start on 8/13/25 and end on 5/22/26 is currently scheduled to end on 10/11/25, meaning that teachers would have to create a new course every nine weeks. We need the courses to actually reflect their accurate length in Canvas while still enabling grade passback, but despite Canvas being a "preferred partner" of Skyward, no one can tell us how to do that.
I can't believe that this would be an unsolvable issue and yet just now is the first time we've heard about it after all the research we did, but we haven't gotten a response from Instructure that's more than, "Oh, hmm, that's a bummer, sorry." Our implementation consultant checked with whatever technical team and said they confirmed that there's nothing we can do about it in Canvas because of the way it's set up in Skyward, but had no further help whatsoever. Any advice appreciated.
