We’re exploring ways to improve the Peer Review experience in Canvas and we need your input!

Our current discovery work is focused on how Peer Reviews are assigned and what preferences users have around the process. Whether you’ve used Peer Review extensively or are just getting started, your insights can help us make smarter, more meaningful improvements.

We’re especially looking to hear from instructors, but all users are welcome to participate. If you are an admin who has already participated in the survey, please share with instructors in your community. Click the link below to walk through a 5 minute Maze activity and share your feedback.

Hi! Thank you for seeking input on peer review. I didn't get a chance to add this in the survey, but with the current process, there is no incentive for the student reviewers to evaluate their peers. It just feels like they're doing the work for the teacher. It would be great if part of the grade automatically went to the reviewer; for example, 10 points for the submission and 5 points for the review. So when a Peer review assignment is created, two columns pop up in the Grades next to each other; one for the original submission and one for the reviews.

Thanks,

Farah

Agreed. As well as more clarity/options on HOW the student should leave feedback, set by the instrucor, per the assignment type.

Ex. ANNOTATION markups required for drawings, VOICE RECORDING feedback for required audio feedback, or clickable rubrics with a clear space to WRITE notes for feedback (for those not familiar with the UI), separate of summary comments

@SamGarza1 Instructure support recommended I put this comment here. I noticed a UX bug with Peer Reviews where peer review comments can be immediately visible to students, but if a rubric is used, the rubric filled out by a peer is not available until grades are released. Most users assume that all feedback (comments and rubrics) filled out by the peer reviewer would all be available at the same time. I hope this can be remedied in the improved Peer Review experience.

@james_whalley Peer Review now falls under me, so I'll look into this and get it submitted as a UX bug as needed if Support hasn't already reported it. Thanks for surfacing!
