Introducing Product Notifications for Admins in Catalog!

Dear Catalog Community,

We are thrilled to announce a new feature: notifications for Admins within Catalog!

These product notification boxes will appear exclusively for Catalog admins on admin pages on the bottom left.
Once closed, the announcement will not reappear until the admin logs in again. See picture below.

These notifications will inform you about:

  • New releases with embedded release notes
  • Important updates and scheduled maintenance
  • Surveys and feedback forms

This new method aims to provide quicker access to vital information alongside our Community blog posts, Release notes, and CSM updates.

We also hope this will streamline the feedback process, allowing us to improve features with your valuable input.

We already have some announcements for you in production, so you can check this feature right away.

@KataKeri I have seen them and do like it! Does this replace the horizontal banner that also shows changes, like when we were asked to take the UDF survey? Would there be an area in the admin dashboard that displays these past notifications? 

Just curious to know so I'm asking this question: would a similar communication capability like this  trickle down for admins to use for our Catalog users when they're logged in to the Catalog dashboard?

@rpsloan yes, it will replace the horizontal banners.
What would be the use case from your side to show the past notifications? 

Regarding your question: do I understand correctly that you'd like to use a similar announcement tool to communicate with your users on the student dashboard?

@KataKeri If we have subcatalog admins who don't really keep track of updates of links from the notifications, they can refer to a previous page. This is more of a preference than a need though.

To clarify: I would be interested in using an announcement/communication tool to notify Catalog users of any custom message we want to inform them (not necessarily sharing with them messaging only applicable to admins like the release notes and upgrades ad changes).

@KataKeri I think these notifications are a nice touch. Just confirm, these notifications will be shown to subcatalog admins and root catalog admins right?
