Chat Overview (Students) Video Script

In this video you will learn how to access and participate in Chat. The Chat tool allows students and teachers to interact with each other in real time.

To begin, click Chat. If you don’t see the Chat link in course navigation, your teacher may have disabled it for your course. At the bottom of the Chat window, type your message. Note that URLs will become clickable links when posted. To include emojis in your message, click the Emoji icon and select an emoji. To send your message, hit Return (or Enter), or click Send. Keep in mind that any messages sent within Chat are visible to everyone in the course. Messages sent by course instructors include an Instructor label to help students quickly identify an instructor response.

Scroll up to view the chat history. Remember, Chat history is available to all course users, and transcripts cannot be deleted. So, if you want to have a private conversation with another user, consider sending a private message via the Conversations Inbox or setting up a private conference.
