Hi @BAILEYCONNERLEY I have tried it on our end, and I have the view log option. Are you an Admin or teacher? If you are teacher I am wondering if there is some feature that has been turn off for teaching staff in your school. How do I view a quiz log for a student? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com) Quiz logs are only retained for six months. Quiz Log Auditing is currently a course opt-in feature. To enable the link to view quiz logs, learn how to manage feature options in the course features lesson.

Hi @Carter41 We create different template courses and save it in commons. Staff can import the contents to their courses and adjust to suits. Commons give us more flexiblilty and you can select who to share the contents with etc. Here is a video you can learn more about commons: Commons Overview - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com) If you prefer reading more into details: Canvas Commons - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com) Hope this helps.

Hi @GaryParciakEHS Yes, we do crosslist multiple courses into one for some teaching courses. Apart from a large group of students when view in "People", there is no other problem so far. We do advise teaching staff to identify their assignment by given a proper title and make sure each assign to the right section. This way it's easier when manage Grades and Assignments. Hope this helps.

Hi @zfechko As a TA you will not be able to extend this yourself. We hit the same problem before while set the inactivity timer for 30 mins. We contacted Instructure and get it extended to one hour. Your Canvas Admin (or whoever is the main contact with Instructure) can contact the CSM to get it extended. Hope this help!

Can't believe this idea was posted 5 years ago and still we don't see any progress. I agree with the others who posted in here. In "People" page it's important for teacher and admin to be able to sort and filter out especially when the course has been crosslisted with more than one classes. Please we need sorting function to sort out names ("fist name" & "surname"), time ("last activity" and "total activity"). Also filter function to differential enrolment methods ("SIS import" or "manually"), sections (mostly useful for crosslisted courses), groups (we don't use groups as students are grouped by sections but I think another institution may use it). The sorting and filter function is a basic in most other VLE platforms. I am looking forward to see any progress.

Statement: Some lecturers use crosslisting for A and B classes. The problem is that the crosslisting function becomes broken when lecturers add themselves into a crosslisted course. As a result students and the section will be brought back to the original course where there are no learning materials and submissions lost. This is a major hit as we are unable to bring students submission back after a long time. Canvas can only retrieve submissions which are lost within one month.
Suggestion: May I suggest Canvas to develop a function that if a course has been crosslisted then no one is allowed to self enrol to avoid braking the crosslisting function. Equally, when a course has ended no one can add themselves, or Admin will get a notification if someone add themselves into the crosslisted course so we can re-crosslist the courses and fix the problem straight away. Any other suggestions from the community are welcome.

Hi @Rachel_P I use this simple CSV headings. Leave integration id blank if you know use it. Status put in "active/delete". We don't use inactive as we use SSO as well. Cant remember if that's inactive/suspend. I think inactive for course enrolment and suspend for account suspension. user_id integration_id login_id password first_name last_name full_name email status Hope this helps!

Hi @GozilOxley If you have already been given the permission to create courses then you should see the "+Course" button on top right corner. If you don't have this button then you will need to ask your admin to create a sandbox course for you.

Hi @rmarchionda Yes, you can give these users account admin access to the sub account level only. We have create different course and account roles for different use. For example, lecturers have teacher admin account role which allow them to search and self enrol into courses in their schools only. For the two account roles that you created, you do not need to give them full admin access to add courses. I will suggest you go through the permissions list and only enable the permissions that they really need. Hope this help.

I think this is a good idea. We keep all our courses for each year. If users have the option to customize their dashboard by creating folders and sub-folders on Dashboard as they wish that will be great.

You are welcome 😊. The PDFs are from Canvas Resource documents and only listed the default accounts and course roles permissions.
As mentioned before we created extra accounts and roles than the defaulted so we keep our own records in a spreadsheet. I may be wrong but I think even with the API call it will only give @JarredMcNeely a list of text that she will still need to manually create/convert into a spreadsheet.
Would love to know if someone have the solution so I dont have to keep update our record manually.

I don't think there is any report that you can pull this data. We have different roles and accounts created for different users so we keep track of the permission records by creating our own spreadsheet manually.

Hi @RasoolBux
I think may be your admin have not enable the New Quiz feature option that's why you don't have the choice. The new Quiz have a solid rocket icon while the Classic Quiz have an hollow rocket icon. I dont see the GPA option in grading the classic quizzes, may be you can use Rubric.

It would be helpful if we can pull the login data from Beta/Test sites so that we can see who have been logged in which can prevent lecturers from logging in to the wrong sites and start editing without knowing that their work will not be saved. Hopefully Instructure can develop this feature for admin in the future.
If this is not possible maybe let admin set permission to restrict other staff's ability to edit contents in Beta/Test. Students cannot access course contents beyond dashboard at the moment so maybe do the same for other staff except admin.

Hi
This has been brought up by a member since 2015 and still in the backlog for development? I apricated that instructure developers has been make so many changes and provided many useful features in Canvas. However, I think this has been overlooked since the first step that most lecturers will do when create a new assingment is to select their students which means you wont able to exclude only one or two student but have to select all others.
