I second the great resources @kblack ‌ mentioned! Another way to facilitate various assignments to embrace learner variability is to use: How do I assign an assignment to an individual student? Another great resource: How do I view differentiated assignments with different due dates in a course? Another champion for this topic is Laura Gibbs' Blog‌ On accessibility (making the content in Canvas accessible to assistive technology), using the tutorial General Accessibility Design Guidelines‌ then using a scanning tool: 1) WAVE or 2) UDOIT Version 2.2.0 "Altoona"‌ to confirm accessibility. I would recommend using the equation editor for any equation. Designing content with accessibility in mind will support all learners (learner variability).

Do you like creating short personal videos for your online, blended, hybrid, or F2F course? Do you then get discouraged about how to caption them so they are accessible to all of your students? Clips is an app by Apple that will automatically caption short videos! What?! Yes- record a video and the app will automatically detect and create captions. With any captioning tool, a little scrubbing may be needed to clean up any misspelled or incorrect words. Editing the captions is quick and easy too! What other accessible video tools are you using?

It might be out there somewhere, but it might be nice to hear about. And I appreciate the part about accessible Canvas tools/resources. Hey Agent K! I completely understand. It sounds like the Hawks systems has robust options. Some of our departments are using Pearson Mastering along with custom text and etext. The Mastering platform has some limitations but Pearson is committed to accessibility. Another option. Pearson Accessibility for E-Learning

Here are a few and might help: Resources eText OpenStax- Accessible OER etext (this might be what you're looking for) Accessibility Statement- meets WCAG 2.0 level A (this shows effort and possibilities) VitalSource- Check for accessible etext STEM AccessSTEM (University of Washington) Math and STEM Content (Penn State) STEM Accessibility (Salt Lake Community College) Math EquatIO- Digitally create fully accessible equations. Equat10 features: voice, write or type equations; make predictions; and can add equations or formulas into Google docs, forms, slides, etc. Desmos- The next generation graphing calculator. Science Chandra X-Ray Observatory- Collection of free tactile, 3D prints, tactile and Braille posters, audio descriptions of images, and much more. The Moon- A tactile/3D Moon download (Creative Commons License) Describing Science Images (National Center for Accessible Media) Anyone else? Let's keep the accessible STEM resources coming! Good Morning @drimmer ‌, This was a great post! You mentioned: Do not assume that 21st century students with thumbs attached to smart phones are actually tech-savvy I couldn't agree more! Digital natives still need to be taught about educational technology, which is drastically different than the social media side of technology (why they think they already know everything). I feel the greatest help to students is teaching: digital citizenship and digital literacy (understanding how/why we learn differently online vs. print). These are 21st century "textbooks" (resources) for this upcoming generation. Hi @jbond ‌, When we made the switch, our wokflow was: first uncheck, and then adjust the submission to external tool. We didn't experience what you mentioned. We haven't really "dealt with" the old TII yet. Some of our courses may still have it checked- we are a small operation with thousands of assignments. So we wouldn't be able to check every single one. We haven't removed anything either. I will add a critical tip that I did in our test instance (thank goodness). At one point we talked about completely abandoning the new LTI so I tested "what would happen if I just deleted the entire LTI?" So I deleted the tool at the account level. I went back to click on the assignment and nothing loaded/happened...nothing. Not even the old assignment text. All submission were gone. I was stunned. So, needless to say we didn't go that route. We are still limping through and now our teachers are getting more and more upset with their new "workflow" with resubmissions- our greatest hurtle. Stephanie

Hey @gaschult ‌, I here yea! I've seen this happen. I'd like to help the visibility of this question. Let's ask the Canvas Developers‌. Testing different browsers: Chrome Edit: Live: Firefox Edit: Live: I've experienced image issues...the image actually got "cut off" by the side panel. I had to decrease the image to fit it on the page. Then, the image in incredible unresponsive. I checked my table and image on an iPad and it chopped it. Basically, the best way we've found to achieve the look of "putting photos anywhere" is to float them. This make them 1) accessible, 2) responsive, and 3) fit better.
