UDOIT 3.2.0 Release Notes The UDOIT developer community has been putting a lot of work into making UDOIT 3 more capable, easier to install, more stable, and easier to debug. This is a fairly large release, but here are the highlights: Issue Impact Filters You can now filter errors/suggestions by the type of disabilities they affect. These filters are customizable by the institution in the .env file, and we welcome feedback on the default assignments. The Issue Impact section of the Filters drawer. Options shown: Visual Issues, Auditory Issues, Cognitive Issues, and Motor Issues. iFrame Detection Content in iFrames that is not detected by other multimedia checks (such as YouTube) will produce a suggestion titled "External Content May Be Inaccessible". The text of the suggestion directs the user to manually evaluate and mark the item as resolved. Screenshot of the iframe suggestion dialog box. @Landmark_Coll Thanks for checking back in. The fix for this issue requires extensive changes to the scanning process, and is covered in this issue: Create worker for scanning That feature will require extensive changes to the scanning workflow. We haven't started work on it yet because we've been focusing on streamlining the server install process. I will be releasing 3.2.0 on Friday of this week, and 3.3.0 should be coming at the end of April. 3.3.0 will contain many improvements to the server install process, so it should be easier for you to set up a brand new local server from scratch. Creating a worker for scanning will be a high priority after 3.3.0 is out.

@bjork Sorry for the delayed response; this week has been hectic. Make sure "BASE_URL" in .env.local is set to the URL of your instance of UDOIT. This is dependent on your web server configuration, but judging by your post it should be "https://testudoit3.college.edu".

@todd-weissenber What version are you using? You can find the version number in the top-right of the UDOIT banner. There was a bug in 2.8.0 that created false positives on that test. It was fixed in 2.8.1, but I would recommend updating to 2.8.3. If you are using 2.8.3 already, please provide a sample of the code that is generating the false positive so I can take a look.

@bjork I've never encountered that error before. The difference in configuration you noticed is because of the switch from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3. In UDOIT <3.0.0, the Developer API Key was stored in the app configuration file, and a couple of made-up values (the consumer key and shared secret) were also placed there. When you added UDOIT to a course, you also supplied the consumer key and shared secret you made up. With UDOIT >=3.0.0, we still use a Developer API Key, but now we use a Developer LTI Key instead of the consumer key and shared secret. The LTI Key is not manually placed anywhere in UDOIT because the configuration happens automatically when the LTI Key is created in Canvas. Check over the process for creating an LTI Key for UDOIT again to make sure it's set up correctly.

@Landmark_Coll We're getting close! Please make sure that you've run the database migrations and set up the Institutions table. Most of our 500 errors are due to the database not being configured properly.

@Landmark_Coll I think your LTI Key is pointing to the wrong URL. Instead of https://bullshark.landmark.edu/udoit/public/dashboard, it should be https://bullshark.landmark.edu/udoit/dashboard. The /lti/config file appears to be generating the various links incorrectly. Did you add "/public" to the .env? If so, try removing it to see if the /lti/config generates correctly. You might have to manually fix all the URLs in your LTI Key in Canvas.

@Landmark_Coll You could try https://127.0.0.1:8000 . Again, I don't have much experience with Apache, so we're already out of my depth. In NGINX, we use fastcgi_pass to redirect traffic to a Docker container.

@Landmark_Coll The /lti/config path is defined in the LTIController.php file. The app uses Symphony, so paths like that are handled by Routes. The Institution table will be empty by default. You have to set it up by following the instructions in INSTALL_CANVAS.md. However, if the /lti/config path is returning a 404, you won't be able to follow those instructions, so we need to figure that out first. Are you using your own Apache install? I don't have much experience with Apache, but you might try a ProxyPass to udoit_php_1:8000. Basically, Apache needs to pass the whole request to the PHP container and let Symphony figure out the routing.

@Landmark_Coll I tried this out on my own Ubuntu machine, and I found that I needed to use sudo with every docker call. There are some warnings when I run sudo docker-compose up --build , but it ultimately works. I also had to use sudo when running the next command `sudo docker exec -it udoit_php_1 /bin/bash`

@Chris_Hofer If you haven't already, please check your web server and UDOIT logs (found in config/log.log) to see if you can find any clues. You can also check the Network tab in your browser's inspector to see what response the server provided when you tried to load that tab. The only other thing I can think is to make sure you can the database migrations.

This is the first official open source release of the "Next Generation" UDOIT! It has been completely rewritten from the ground up to make it easier and faster to use. It's also more extensible, so we can more easily add new accessibility checks and other features. Cidi Labs put together a great overview video of UDOIT 3.0.0 that covers all the new features and user interface. If you are currently using this version, please update to the latest bugfix release, UDOIT 2.8.2. It fixes a major issue with scanning courses with large amounts of content.

@Sylvia_Ami I see what you mean. Canvas used to put data-decorative="true" on an image if you checked the "Decorative Image" checkbox. Now, it appears that it puts role="presentation", which is a better solution to the problem. I'm not sure when this change occurred, but we evidently missed it. Thank you for reporting it! I have created Issue #624 to address this in a future version of UDOIT.

@Tasha_Biesinger Thank you so much for the detailed testing report! I'm almost certain this is a timeout issue with your server. Are you hosting UDOIT on your own server, or are you using Heroku? If you are hosting on your own server, you have two options: Increase the "max_execution_time" in PHP. This method can have a detrimental effect on your server's performance depending on what PHP applications are running on your server. Set up UDOIT to use a background worker. (To do this, change "$background_worker_enabled = true;" in config/localConfig.php and set up a script to run "php lib/worker.php" whenever your server starts.) This method will allow you to process almost any size course, and you can have multiple threads of "php lib/worker.php" running to process more scans in parallel.

Release Information It's here! The final release of UDOIT 2. Don't worry, though! We are hard at work getting UDOIT 3 ready to go. As with all feature releases, the one is named after a small town in Central Florida. Gotha, FL was chosen because it is the final resting place of Bob Ross, who always reminded us that "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents." This release contains a number of feature enhancements and bug fixes. You can find more details at the UDOIT 2.8.0 release page. Questions? Issues? You can send it to jacob.bates@ucf.edu if you don't want to post it here. @mtuten You may have two separate issues happening. You should definitely go into your Google API Console and request an increase to your quota. Also, if you can identify a page that UDOIT is unable to scan, please send me the HTML so I can test.
