New Turnitin LTI and Speedgrader? Is there any way to have work still appear in speedgrader when students have turned it in to the new turnitin TLI? Right now we have the old plugin running and it works perfectly for us. I h... |

What media do you embed in Canvas? Seeing the great idea for a 'lab' course to demonstrate design and media options in Canvas, I was wondering what kinds of media others embed into Canvas regularly? In my class I use: google docs... |

Hi all, This idea has been very popular at my school so I thought I'd share it with the community. Teachers are choosing a twitter feed to embed in their Canvas page (a favorite for humaniti... |

Thanks @jacob_standish1 ! This is a great tool. I have tons of tech tutorials I have created for my school and needed a way to keep them easily accessible to the faculty. Since only about 50% of our faculty use google, I can't share the google folder but I do have an all-faculty Canvas course. This is a great option-- every time I make a new tutorial I can add it to the folder and use our google storage limit instead of our Canvas limit. It looks great!

Sure.. Rubistar, irubric, easytagger all work better. Just not integrated into canvas. Even the rubric generator in turnitin is a little easier to use and will send grades back to the canvas gradebook.

Yes! Modules makes a lot more sense if there is a module breadcrumb.

Yes--this is how I do it too. It's the only way I can find that doesn't end up with me accidentally over-writing myself.

I also really like this idea. I have 2 tools that I use for image (and other content) attribution, both of which I learned from this community. One option is to embed a tooltip (like the flikr one, but with my own content, including links). I learned how to do it from this: Add Tooltips to Images and Text Since the user has to hover over the content to display the tooltip, another option is to install the CC attribution tool that creates an attribution section on any page (or discussion or assignment or wherever there's added content). Here's the info on that: Re: How do I place attributions for resources I got from Commons? Hopefully these can be helpful workarounds while this feature makes its way through the request process.

SO excited about this! Here's a pic of what my course syllabus looked like before: And here's what it looks like now! THANKS for all the code! (and for those who are wondering, it renders out exactly the same on my iphone in browser, and still looks good in the app, just doesn't have tabs).

Thanks awilliams! I was thinking this is a great way to add attributions to images I use from internet sources. I love the idea of having the source information appear when the user hovers over the image. Thanks!

The styleguide elements do not always work in the editor-- sometimes they require modification of the global javascript. My understanding is that this is because the styleguide is for the development of canvas itself, rather than of individual course content. In any case, I haven't had to add the a tag that Susan Bastian mentioned. When I use buttons, I add the code from the style guide into the html editor: (for example) <div class="Button Button--primary">button text</div> Then I switch back to the RCE. In the RCE I don't see the button, just the text. I add links to that text using the insert content menu on the right or the hyperlink icon in the toolbar. When I save the page, the button appears and works.

Hi Rob, If I understood your post correctly, you are expressing the desire for Commons to include some type of preview? That is a feature idea currently open for voting if you want to weigh in.

I created a page for my training course with these links--maybe also helpful. Then I added the information I got from cfierro and the explanation of various CC licenses I found here to create a module on using media in Canvas. Maybe helpful too? YES! I completely agree. I am not in any way looking forward to what happens when the plugin is no longer supported. I am actively looking for alternatives to Turnitin because it's just not as functional in the new system.

Hi @cgraves , Yes, that is the way the legacy integration is set up. However, turnitin has a new interface and sometime next year the legacy version will go away. In the new version, it works as an external tool, so when students submit their work through Canvas, it gets transmitted to turnitin and the student submission does not appear in the speedgrader in canvas at all. So at that point, faculty will no longer have the option to use turnitin to check originality while still annotating in the crocodoc speedgrader view.

the only use cases I have been able to imagine in which I would want a pages front page can all be accommodated easily within this description (basically linking to a page rather than having a front page) as long as the ability to set a page as the home page is preserved.

yes! When I click the pages link on the sidebar I want to see all the pages and/or create a new page. Hitting the front page adds annoying extra steps. As long as I retain the ability to set a page as the home page, I don't need a pages first page. That function is achieved by modules or landing page navigation.

I use it in my 11th grade humanities class for feedback in student-led discussions. I set 1 or 2 outcomes (usually asks good questions and gives answers based in the text) and then as students are talking I can swipe up or down as they contribute to the conversation. It's a really quick way to track participation quality as well as quantity that doesn't distract me from the content of the conversation.

Hi Maria, I have not tested this at all, but I noticed that EdCite does have a SCORM export option. Obviously that's not as streamlined as it could be, but have you tried using the SCORM package within Canvas? We aren't using SCORM here so I couldn't test it in my instance but I did want to throw out that possibility. Sorry if that's not helpful! Melissa

I was able to search my course content right away And I didn't do anything special. Our canvas organization is pretty simple and my course is in the top rather than a sub, so that may have played a role?
