Seeing the great idea for a 'lab' course to demonstrate design and media options in Canvas, I was wondering what kinds of media others embed into Canvas regularly?
In my class I use:
google docs (and sheets and presentations and forms)
video
padlet walls
thinglink images (choose the iframe embed option before copying the code)
dipity timelines
TedEd Lessons
What other media do people embed?
Melissa
Melissa,
We regularly embed Captivate and Storyline activities in our courses here at Mizzou K–12 Online (using iframes).

It's easy to create a Google Presentation and then grab the embed code to insert into Canvas. Of course YouTube videos are an great way to share video, especially adding the YouTube app add-on.
+1 I love embedding Google Presos!
Hi Melissa,
I embed Google Slides, Youtube Videos, Prezi's, and PowToon Presentations.
Thanks! I totally forgot about powtoon. I have to use it more.
@mpoole if you haven't seen @G_Petruzella Media and HTML Examples: A Library/Lab course yet, your going to love it. He's gathered lots of ideas and samples here that are useful.
Yes! That is what made me think of it. I noticed he didn't have padlet included and started wondering what else was possible. I am going to be coaching a group new to Canvas this summer and wanted to gather as many ideas for media as possible.
Gotcha, just wasn't sure. ![]()
Surprised nobody has mentioned
ThingLink
Love Thinglink in Canvas.
Thanks for your response Ms. Castro but Thinglink looks like it's only one picture. I'm a college prpfessor and all of my classes involve more than one picture.
Thanks,+Father Martel

Father Martel:
You might want to investigate SoftChalk Cloud, it could solve your multiple image need in a variety of ways.
Thanks Chris Long for bringing up Gerol's Lab again - great resource - bookmarked now!
I frequently embed Google docs and slides as well as videos (YouTube or TED)...but here's a new one to add to your list: EdPuzzle.
I embed lots and lots of things in Canvas, but one I use a lot is Softchalk Lesson Builder. I can embed an entire lesson or course, or just an activity. And I can link the graded activities to the Canvas Gradebook.
We have tried different programs through SCORM but limited how you can embed the SoftChalk / Articulate- they come in as an Assignment through SCORM which is limiting. Wish had a better way to embed similar to video and other LTI tools.
Robert:
I use SoftChalk Cloud, and can embed using iFrames and do not need to upload as an assignment, although that capability is there if I want. What I like is I can embed an entire lesson, or just a single activity, and I can embed SoftChalk any place in Canvas with a RCE using the HTML Editor.
I use Nearpod.
I've been embedding videos I've made with Screencastify that are then saved in Google Drive. It's worked very well.
