I have the same issue. When I import a Canvas quiz from a previous semester, I can edit the questions themselves EXCEPT for the point values.
This has probably been revised over the years, but this did not work for me.
Thanks, @James, but now I'm in way over my head. Too bad that Canvas hasn't simply made this simple improvement!

However, I don't see exactly how to turn this on in Safari:
