Kristie Long began her career in 1992 as a 1st grade teacher at South Effingham Elementary School. In 1995, she received her MEd. in Early Childhood Education. She served as a Title 1 reading and math teacher for 3 years before being trained as a Reading Recovery teacher in 1999. She taught students to read over the next 8 years. In 2002, she was named the district's Teacher of the Year. She became the district's RTI Coordinator in 2007 and added the responsibility of the district's ESOL program in 2013 and PBIS in 2015.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and picking up seashells at the beach.
