Dear Canvas/Instructure - adding another institution to this thread for awareness. This is a major issue for instructors at all levels as well as course designers.

Classic Quizzes and New quizzes have varying feature parity, thus many of our faculty continue to use classic quizzes. Some in-demand features are not fully baked into New Quizzes yet. Classic quizzes has a selection box to allow for the viewing of question details. Is there a way to expand that beyond n25?

Please consider additional RCE question text editing for New Quizzes, under all questions types, similar to the RCE editing in Stimulus question type. Language professor migrated Classic Quiz to New Quiz. Has multiple fill in the blank questions. The question area in Classic quizzes consists of a table with the identifying information. The fill in the blank portion consists of 7 responses each with a variation x 4 of possible answers. See Canvas support Case # 08309592 for quiz item details. Quiz 9, question 6. Alternative in New Quizzes is to rebuild the extensive question with Stimulus question type to replicate the table and Fill in the Blank question to go with the Stimulus table. A lot of work to replicate. Can you investigate the details in the Case # and consider RCE for various question types or provide an alternative with fewer steps to recreate the content. Using New Quizzes is not easily transitioned in this case. Received from the instructor: I teach a class where we do calculations and the numbers need to be expressed with exponential notation (i.e. 1.1e-6 = 0.0000011). No matter whether I use exponential notation or the decimal equivalent, Canvas regards the number as zero. This is very sad.

Instructional designer would like to use SCORM as a plug-in in the RCE toolbar and add as an assignment in all of the courses they are designing. Currently it is only available at the Course Navigation placement. But the App indicates the other placements are disabled - which is not actually a current available option.

Contact your Salesforce admin for help. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions for a fix. Have opened a ticket already, but have not heard back. I found a few help articles outside of the community, but have yet to resolve. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Canvas creates a default assignment group called "assignments". If an instructor is not using weighted groups or does not have another need for the "assignments" group, the instructor would like to omit that column from student view because it tends to confuse students.

I third. Is there an update on this idea or related comments on behalf of Canvas? Understandably, Canvas Conversations was likely intended for quick messaging within the system. However, Announcements tend to be more robust and full of details. The fact that an email is auto-generated when the Announcement is posted to the course is a feature MANY appreciate. But if the formatting is stripped upon receipt of the announcement, then the announcement has a reduced impact on the receiving population. Would it be possible to put a standard message generated by an announcement, something to the effect: [This message may contain embedded images, formatting and other elements that can be viewed in the Announcements tab of your course] or something like Outlook [to view this message with formatting and images, click here ---> link takes them to the full announcement in the course]. See below recently submitted from a professor: I imagine the issue of formatting in Canvas is not a new issue, but I’m wondering if the Canvas folks are doing something about this as it’s a real problem when trying to communicate with my students. For instance, attached are three screenshots. The first is what I wrote in the Canvas announcement submission box (w formatting), the second is how the announcement appears on Canvas after I submitted it, and the third is how it appears in the email received by the students. As you can see, the last one in particular is a jumbled mess that is mostly unintelligible for my students, of which I’m sure most of students would just ignore.

Can we setup a way to add YouTube as a registered service like GoogleDrive, Skype, LinkedIn, etc? Many instructors have "goto" videos they reference frequently and have saved in the YouTube accounts. Having the YouTube search feature embedded in rich text content menu is great. Would be even better if it can be linked to the YouTube account to minimize searching for frequently used content. 🔎 This idea has been archived. While this idea isn't open for comments, it is an important part of Instructure’s idea conversations and development process . Contributions like this are valuable as Instructure prioritizes work on new or existing features.
