Mr. Wheeler is a registered Professional Engineer. He has 5 years experience as a design engineer for Peterbilt trucks and 29 years as the director of a vocational training center in Thailand. Haiti, Malawi and China are just a few of the countries where he has taught small scale production of and building with interlocking compressed earth blocks and other green technologies. He designed and built his own home with green technologies including a rain water collection system, a solar water heater, gray water reuse, and a dry composting toilet. At his center, besides teaching villagers, he has mentored interns from colleges and universities from Europe, North America, Thailand and Australia. For the 7th, 8th and 9th grades, he home schooled his twin sons. Spanish is one of several languages that he likes to practice. He enjoys folk dancing of many cultures. In Thailand he can often be found tending his edible fence and banana orchard with 5 varieties of bananas. He is an avid bicyclist and enjoys playing ping pong and badminton.
