I figured it out! I have to set it as "no submission" and "not graded."
Yes, thank you! Your answer over there sort of worked for me. It worked when I clicked align right, but not align left. Weird.
I don't know how to use HTML. What, exactly, do I put before the image, and what, exactly, do I put after it? How do I get the image itself in there? Is there a way to do this without using HTML?
How do I get text next to an embedded image rather than just above and below?
This leads me to another question: how do I arrange the gradebook by assignment groups? I don't see that as an option.

They're not supposed to submit to the ungraded assignment but rather to the discussion forum. The ungraded assignment is really just a reminder to them to do the initial post for the discussion. E...
