HI everyone! My name is Joe and I currently serve as a Learning Consultant with Instructure. I taught for eight years, supervising a college prep program's tutoring service for two and teaching secondary/Dual Credit English for six before transitioning into full time training in the higher ed space. I then moved into the role of Director of Distance Education at Galveston College and acted as a trainer, Canvas admin and oversaw a number of other functions at the College before coming to Instructure. If you're curious, here are a few things that I've dabbled in over my years in education that might spark your interest: Implementing Constructivist Learning Theory in online learning environments, managing a classroom in online learning environments, utilizing video games and augmented reality in conjunction with curriculum to increase student engagement, creating writing self-efficacy through online learning tools, and engaging students in the writing process through online learning tools/environment.
