Problem statement:
An instructor at our university pointed out that it's quite confusing that is says "Send comment to this student only" and "Send comment to the whole group" when submitting comments on a group assignment in Speedgrader, although the grades are not yet posted. The instructor got unsure whether the comments are hidden (which they are) or not when it says "Send comment".
Proposed solution:
Maybe you can reformulate this to "Save comment" or similar or add some extra information that's only visible when the grades are hidden.

At our university, the syllabus' visibilty is set to "public" for all courses. On the syllabus page it is quite common to link to course files (e.g. course literature), which becomes a copyright issue as the syllabi are public.
Right now you can edit permissions for files and folders, including setting the state of the file/folder (published or unpublished), restrict file/folder access to students who have the link, or schedule availability dates for the files/folders. Is it possible to also add the feature to allow access to files and folders exclusively to enrolled users in a course?

When looking at users in the People, Gradebook or Speedgrader interface, the sorting of names is connected to what language you have selected in Canvas. But this should be based on the locale, not the language. In Sweden, we have those three extra characters in the end after Z: Å, Ä and Ö (in html encoding for clarity here). These are sorted as A, A and O if you have selected English as language, which is the default language in Canvas at our university. So the sorting of names gets wrong according to our locale needs in Sweden, which results in confused teachers having a hard time finding the correct student names in long lists.
The same goes for the handling of commas/dots for numbers in formula questions in Quizzes, which also is connected to language. But this should be based on the locale, not the language. As it is now, both students and teachers get really confused of the different handling, since some teachers set their courses to be in Swedish and some set their courses to be in English.
To sum up: Canvas should be able to distinguish between language and locale. And both sorting of names and handling of commas/dots for formula questions should be based on locale, rather than on language.

Hi,
At our site, we have experienced the following issues with groups in Canvas:
it's really hard to get an overview of the list of groups if you click "Groups" in the Global Navigation Menu. An improvement could for example be to only show groups from courses that are displayed on the dashboard (i.e. from the ones that are marked as favourites). Another alternative could be to let users hide groups in the list or in some other way being able to edit the view. At our site, we don't conclude courses in Canvas so the list of groups gets unmanageably long quite quickly.
comments that are submitted, both from students and teachers, for group assignments aren't showed in Canvas. This happens quite often and is a cause of students not belonging to a group and still being able to submit a group assignment. I don't know the best way to improve this, but something needs to be done, for example by restricting students from handing in group assignments if they don't belong to a group and/or by providing a warning for teachers who create group assignments with group sets that include empty groups.
