Hi @KristalPogue , In addition to the excellent advice from @Chris_Hofer , make sure you know what name your institution is using. If you are a K-12 student, you likely will be looking for the name of your district and not your individual school site. If you are a college student, you may need to look for an "umbrella" name for the whole system rather than your individual college, or conversely, you may need to look for your school or department rather than the name of the university system.

Hi @GeorgeCollier , If you want to stop an Announcement from displaying while retaining it for potential future use, you can edit the Announcement and use the "delay posting" option to set it for a date well in the future. If/when you are ready to use it again, you can set the date for when you want it to re-appear for users. Unfortunately, as @Chris_Hofer pointed out, there is no way (yet?) to do this automatically; you need to manually edit the post.

Hi @CynthiaLogan , In your title you mention Modules, but in your text you ask about Pages. @emily_beckman showed you how to add hyperlinks on a Page. But if you are using Modules, you can link directly to your documents in the Module. When you add an item to the Module, select "External URL" from the drop-down menu. For a Google Doc, you will use the Copy Link feature and just copy that into the URL box. I don't use OneDrive in this way but assume it has a similar feature. How do I add an external URL as a module item? When your students access the Module, they will be able to click on the links there and be taken to the files. Either method works; it is personal preference as to how you want your students to be exposed to and access the links.

Hi @JWO , Yes, you can do this if you are using Modules. You can use prerequisites and/or requirements in order to control how and when your students proceed through the work. How do I add prerequisites to a module? How do I add requirements to a module? One of the options when setting Module requirements is "Students must move through requirements in sequential order." One of the options for a Quiz (or Assignment) is "score at least." You should be able to use these options together in order to require students to earn a certain score on the first quiz (or assignment) before proceeding to the next quiz. Be sure to allow multiple submissions for the pre-quiz/assignment so that students can keep trying until they get a high enough score.

Hi @ShaohangYuan , When a student submits a Google Doc to Canvas, I believe Canvas makes a "snapshot" of the file, essentially like a PDF. If the student then makes a change to the original Google Doc, that change will not show up on the version submitted to Canvas. The student would have to resubmit the updated version. If you go to your Google Drive and find the Canvas Assignments folder, however, you may be able to find the student document and see the changes there.

Hi @AdrianKlinetobe , Has this happened across multiple days/logins? The first thing I would suggest is to make sure you are actually logged into your Google account, and make sure it is the right Google account (presumably one provided by your school). If you have more than one Google account, make sure you are not logged into any others. Close all other windows. Also make sure your browser is up to date. Canvas requires the browser to be on the most recent or second most recent version. Another thing to try is clearing your cache/cookies/browsing history. Also note that you have posted on a global Canvas board, not a board within your own school. You may want to check in with classmates to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

Hi @allison88 , I am a little confused by your question because in my experience it is easier to change the name in C4E than in Classic Canvas. But it is called "Friendly Name" instead of nickname and is located on the Settings->Course Details page. Perhaps that is what is causing the confusion? Hi @leavoj , Are you using Modules? It seems that you could make a Page with the instructions that you then place just before the Assignment in the Module. One Page can be placed in multiple Modules (or multiple locations within a Module), and you can then update the information just once on the source Page. On the Assignment itself you would just place a reminder to "Use the Previous button to review common instructions and resources" or something similar. (This idea is a variation of @Chris_Hofer 's suggestion to use a Page and provide a link to it.) If you kept the source Page in a Sandbox course, you could do the updates there and then Copy to... all the courses that need it. It's not ideal, but it seems perhaps more efficient than updating every single Assignment.

Hi @jmh9 , I don't know the exact answer to your question but have a couple of suggestions. If you are using New Quizzes, you can select "Require a student access code." If you give out the code orally in class, absent students won't be able to take the quiz. For either Classic or New Quizzes, you can use Module Requirements to unlock the quiz. Set up a Module for the quiz but put two quizzes in it. The first quiz is set as the requirement for the second one, and you will give the answer to the first quiz live in class. That will allow students who are in class to then unlock the second, real quiz. I hope one of these suggestions will work for you.

@Adminteam Yes, your administrator can "lock" the domain into one quiz type or the other. If you have to "Build" the quiz and have multiple tabs across the top, you're in New Quizzes. Classic Quizzes has just 2 tabs, I think, one of which is the question editor. Sorry, I don't have access to Classic Quizzes anymore and never used them much, so I don't remember exactly what the interface was like. If you can find out which type of quiz you are using, the community can provide more targeted advice.

Hi @BeccaBestul , There are many frustrating aspects of External Tools. I'm not a programmer and don't really know what goes on behind the scenes, but keep in mind that each external tool behaves differently depending on its parent company. Canvas has little, if any, control over how external tools behave. It's actually pretty amazing that the Canvas software engineers are able to reconcile so many different systems to work as smoothly as they do. I'm sure they would like to make it so that rubrics worked seamlessly with all tools, but I imagine it's much more difficult to actually make that happen.

Hi @Adminteam , Is this a Classic Quiz or a New Quiz? I don't use quizzes, but there is a way to set different point values for different answers. So you could set up the question so that an answer of "0 years" earns 0 points, "over a year" earns 1 point, "some concepts" earns 2 points, and "more than 3 years" earns 3 points. This feature might be available only in New Quizzes; I'm not sure. [ETA: If you're using Classic Quizzes, there might be a way to do it as a Survey instead.] Setting different point values per answer would allow you to see exactly what experience each user has. Be sure to select "Do not count this assignment towards the final grade" since it is not an actual assignment.

Hi @ManuelGalofaro , You need to provide more information so someone can help you. Have you tried entering scores in both Gradebook view and in the Speedgrader? What happens when you go to the Gradebook cell? Does the box fail to turn into a writeable cell, or do you get an error message? Are you sure the date(s) of the assignment is/are within an open grading period? Also, have you tried logging out of Canvas and logging back in, and have you ensured that your browser is up to date?

Hi @jdimar , I would consider using a graded Discussion for this task. You can set it up with Groups of 1 student each so that each Discussion is private between you and one student. After the first prompt in the RCE, subsequent exit ticket prompts could be posted elsewhere (perhaps an Announcement) with instructions to reply in the Discussion topic. You can use the Comment feature to provide a score for each prompt and then add up the points at the end of the term to post as the grade for the Discussion. You won't have the features of a quiz; everything has to be submitted via the RCE. But you might be able to design questions that will work this way. It's not the prettiest way to achieve the task, but so far it's the only way I've thought of to do ongoing assignments like this.

Hi @JessicaDeanSVC , You can see which pages a student visited by going to the student's account and then selecting User Account Details on the right side. I think this information used to display on the front screen of a student account because I remember seeing it before, and I don't remember ever using that menu option. A list of student "touches" will display, but it doesn't break down how long the student was on a page, only the time s/he landed on a page. Is that what you're thinking of?

Hi @keefern , I would suggest just using the Text Entry submission type and putting in the student instructions to turn in the assignment on paper and then type something (anything, "submitted" or the letter X or anything) in the text entry box and submit it. The letter T will show up in the Gradebook to show that a student has submitted something, and the professor will know to check the drop box. Canvas doesn't care whether you grade what was in the text box or what was handed in on paper. It creates a column in the Gradebook either way, and the professor can input the appropriate grade after retrieving the actual submission.

Hi @CAH99 , I agree with @Chris_Hofer that the culprit may be in your HTML code. I recently have been having trouble with copying and pasting, both from outside sources into Canvas and from one part of a Canvas page to another part of that same page. I often end up with extra lines of code for no apparent reason. I can see "artifacts" in view mode but not in editing mode, and the only way to remove them is to find them in the HTML and delete them. I pretty much know "just enough" about HTML to know how to find the rogue code and eliminate it. I still have no idea why it's happening in the first place.

Hi @TinaRoberts , I've never used Nearpod and thus am not familiar with its features. Is it possible for students to copy the URL of a "complete" page or something else in Nearpod that displays their results? If so, could you use the "Website URL" submission type in a Canvas Assignment and ask them to submit that URL from Nearpod so that you can open the page in the Speedgrader?
