Good morning. We create official course shells for our courses via API. These shells have their Participation setting set to "Course" by default. We are running into an issue where our instructors are copying course content from an another shell whose Participation setting is set to "Term". This results in the official course shell having its Participation setting changed to "Term" as well. Is there any way to stop Canvas from behaving like this? It's really annoying. Erick

As an admin viewing Courses, I would love to see some type of option to show recently accessed courses. I find myself going between similar courses when I'm troubleshooting and/or comparing courses. It would save me time if I didn't have to always perform a search to go to my recently accessed courses.

Thanks @danny_liu for sharing. Only change I made was to use a div instead of the pre tag so that the display output looks more like the other items on the page.

Hi all. We have a problem with some of our instructors checking the "Include Course Settings" box when syncing blueprint courses. The associated courses are being published too early and their start and end dates are being set to blank.
Does anyone know of jQuery code to disable/hide that line in the UI? My attempts so far are not working. This is what I've tried so far:

Ok, the php composer.phar install --no-dev command worked this time. When I try to run it without "--no-dev", it's trying to download dependencies now but I'm being prompted for a token. It's probably embedded in the normal composer.phar file. I think this updated version is going to work fine minus the token prompt. Erick

Good morning. We run a self-hosted instance of UDOIT on CentOS 7. We are finally upgrading our old UDOIT system from 2.3.1 to 2.6.3. I've updated our PHP to version 7.3. I'm getting an error when running the "php composer.phar install" command: Loading composer repositories with package information Installing dependencies (including require-dev) from lock file [ErrorException] "continue" targeting switch is equivalent to "break". Did you mean to use "continue 2"? Can someone shed any light on this? Thanks! Erick

I don't know if you can activate it from there. I used the "+ Developer Key" button because at the time we added it a year ago, there was no "Inherited" link in Canvas. No, Enforce Scopies it not enabled for Panopto for us. Yes, we created a separate admin account for Panopto. Erick

Hello Anna. Most of our LTI integrations are simple in that we just have to provide a consumer key and secret and URL to point to the vendor's cloud platform. But with Panopto, they need more interaction with courses at the top account level or maybe sub-accounts. For example, you can provision courses from Canvas to Panopto which gets resources ready on the Panopto side as far as course information or course enrollments. So for this to happen, a developer key is needed for them to get the information they need. There's no way around this. We had the same dilemma for our instance. We didn't choose to remove the "People" link because we do allow students to see a list of other students in their class. So what we did was add code to our global javascript file to remove the "Enrollments" section from a user's profile UI.

We are in the process of creating an account role for future advisors and external entities to be able to view course and student analytics only. So here is the permission set I've come up with to grant the minimum access they need: Analytics - view pages Courses - view list Courses - view usage reports Grades - view all grades Statistics - view Users - view list The problem is that because I haven't granted the "Content - view" permission, navigation through the UI behaves weird: There is no "Home" navigation link which means there is no "Course Analytics" button on the right side When I click on Grades, nothing ever displays; just have a spinning wheel When I click on a student in People, the right floating window starts loading but then it goes away All of this behavior is fixed if I grant the role "Content - view" permission which I don't want to do. Weird how it seems this permission is tied to the UI in that it's needed to display any content (as opposed to course content only). Does anyone have a workaround or tried something like this before? Good morning, When we initially integrated Panopto with Canvas, we assigned the new user we created as an Account Admin account role to our instance. After testing, we created a separate account role and assigned it the permissions listed on this page - Panopto Support. Our end users complained that they could not log in to Panopto using SSO. Panopto support looked into it and said the role we created also requires the following permissions: Users - manage login details Users - view login IDs These permissions are missing on their support document. Just had this scenario pop up for us for our Continuing Education users who are external to our system. Can this field be updated for an existing user via API?
