Has anyone seen this issue? When downloading the ePub of my course, it is producing it in reverse order from the order of the Modules in the course. I'm not super ePub savvy, but can't think of a reason this would be a feature. I ended up converting it to PDF using an online converter and the rearranging the pages, but it's a hefty course and will change over time so doing that more than once isn't going to be a great solution. Thoughts?

If this goes in as a feature idea I'll give it an up vote, too. Would like to see something like this for students to see progress.

My take on this is a little different so not sure if it is a different request - I'd love the ability to add text to the top of the Modules Page in addition to a thumbnail that seems to be the original intent here. Now that Modules is the default home page for a course, this would be such an easy way for instructors to add instructions or a greeting for a course without having to create a separate page and subsequent navigation to Modules. Could be option - "Include Modules Title?" or something like that, gives you the RCE, and a new DIV happens on the Modules page. Maybe the result is something like this below?

Are you uploading video to Canvas or is it hosted in a video hosting platform? This may determine what you will do. There are some web based services that will transcribe for free such as oTranscribe I haven't used it so I can't swear to how good the transcription is. You can use services like these to get transcript files then attach them to your video in the hosting platform or post them to the page. Some platforms have services built in, too. YouTube has their own builtin closed captioning. You can set your video to have closed caption turned on. Then you can view the transcript from the built in CC service. You have to do a weird little copy and past to actually have it in a file, but it works. There are also tons of hacks of people playing their video and using an app on their phones to listen and transcribe for them. Works pretty well actually. I've done it for a few things that didn't need super accurate transcribing. For our mission critical stuff we pay for transcription via Rev.

We are looking at it as levels of learning for adult learners (teachers) in a particular topic or group of topics. The "micro" would be the credential or levels earned in a way. Almost like karate belt levels. For those that just need the basic levels, they can learn and credential at that entry point. For those that want to go further, they would have those options to level up. Our thinking is that we may tie them to the Texas teacher evaluation standards - Developing, Proficient, Accomplished, Distinguished. Or something like that. Early days and just concepts for us right now. Excited to follow this thread.

Hooray! The editor in Canvas will now include the Insert Media button (Beta release note 8.14.2017), which makes this thread no longer necessary. https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-11998-canvas-beta-release-notes-2017-08-14#jive_content_id_InsertEdit_Media Kudos to Canvas devs for making this available.

Tiny MCE, the editor used in Canvas, does have other associated shortcuts. I have not tried them all, and it's possible they may not work the same inside of Canvas, but worth some testing. Just be careful if you are working in your live environment or a live course. TinyMCE | Keyboard Shortcuts

We have actually decided to expose media embed - my developer figured out how to go ahead and load the media embed button to the rich content editor tools. Canvas uses Tiny MCE, probably the most common WYSIWYG editor around as far as ones that are built into other web apps. https://www.tinymce.com/" title="https://www.tinymce.com/ TinyMCE | Documentation Here's a screenshot of our test environment. 2017-06-29_1849 You'll see we added another custom button for embedding video from our video hosting platform - Wistia. It lets our users just enter a video ID and not have to mess with embed code. We are still working on options for that button such as dimensions and some other settings Wistia might let us get at via API. Once it is more functional we will open source what we did so others that use Wistia as a hosting platform can add it if they want.

Tracie - Yes, it's opening the right Tiny MCE Toolbar. That's the inline editor Canvas uses. They choose to hide that toolbar as part of their interface to eliminate confusion and because they have customized some functions such as their own Media embed that allows for the native Canvas video capture function. Anyway, looks like it i working right, but maybe is just dropping down the file menu to show the New Document option. But you're seeing the right tools. Here is a quick screencast. 2017-06-29_1842

According to Canvas documentation on using video embed code on Pages, designers are instructed to use the HTML Editor. While many designers are probably versed in finding the right spot for embeds, I'm guessing there have been occasions where code gets dropped into the wrong place or even accidentally over other code! We recently learned there is another way to embed media that some may prefer as it avoids having folks go into the HTML Editor. Using the Rich Content Editor's file menu gives you the option to Insert Media. The menu is hidden, but can be shown by hitting ALT + F9 (on a Windows keyboard) or ALT + FN + F9 (on a Mac keyboard). We think this is going to be an immediate win for us with some of our less experienced online teachers and designers. Hope it is helpful from someone else.

Great point about marking "unread". We've also had folks ask if there is a way to continue where they left off, especially in sequence enforced courses.

The idea of "relative" dates for courses (start and end) as well as assignment availability and due dates would make a huge impact on our open enrollment, self paced courses. I really appreciate where your development seems to be heading. Maybe Canvas will incorporate something like this in the future, too.

Wondering if anyone else has had this question since it was originally posted? I don't see a ton of chatter about this, but we also are looking for a way to set certain dates relative to enrollment. We would see this being useful on assignments but also other course dates such as Starts and Ends. #assignments We will also explore differentiated assignments, but for really large courses this could get nutty. Cheers.

Totally makes sense. You want to remove the color, not change it. I'd think the interface would be to either check the color box that is already selected again to deselect the color, or allow user to delete the hex code and use no color, totally removing a color once selected.

I like the idea of being able to remove the color overlay, but it also adds a cool effect, so making this configurable would be great. LOVE the image cards.
