Does anyone know how an instructor can audit course Announcements to confirm they were distributed to enrolled students?

i would like to prevent a user from seeing any detail regarding other users in a course. I would like to be to release certain files and send emails to specific groups of users throughout the semester...

has there been forward motion re: anonymity and discussions since surveys began last August? i have interested faculty that would love to see this. thanks
