@canvas_admin  Hi Mark, I think the confusion is when setting the tool to Enabled under the Admin Settings Feature Options then all that is doing is "Allowing" and making the Course Pacing option available/visible to enable in each individual course.  But it does not check mark/enable Course Pacing in all of the courses as the default is still unchecked when you go to each course.  There is not a way to check mark/enable Course Pacing in all courses.  Except for certain Sub-Accounts (divisions/departments) where it would be nice to turn on Course Pacing by default so the instructors would not have to turn it on themselves, then for the majority of courses it makes sense to leave it turned off by default and if an instructor wants to turn on then they have the option to do so. So I think the wording on the documentation may need to be reworded to make that clear.  The Course Pacing option is actually made "visible" not on a course-by-course basis but across an account or Sub-Account.  Then if it is made visible then the option can be enabled/turned on on a course-by-course basis.       Michael D. @canvas_admin Hi Mark, yes, I already turned on that Account level feature but that only covers the course-by-course basis where it does display that option in Course Settings for Teachers to enable it (even if I enable the option only displays but is not enabled yet).  But I do not see the second way that the documentation mentions where there should be a way to enable for all courses (not just display the option for Teachers to go and enable but to also set the course option for Course Pacing to enabled state so the Teachers do not have to go enable that option themselves). I voted 5 stars on this.  We have students that we enroll them into informational courses and some students only want notifications from the courses that they had registered and not want the Conversations (Inbox) messages from those other informational courses.  But there is no way for them to manage Conversations for individual courses but only for ALL courses at the account level only.  Hope Instructure adds that Conversation Notification setting for Individual courses in a future release!   Michael D. Found out we would have to manage all of the Google user accounts for our end users so without additional personnel to manage all of those then it looks like we cannot use these Google tools. Thank you for the reply, mswope, and I also confirmed with a Google support representative that in order to use Google Assignments (LTI 1.3) that we would have to have Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals [free] but since it requires the extra time-consuming work to manage all the student Google accounts and we do not have additional personnel to manage those then it does not look like we will be using that tool in our Canvas system.  I hope Google may add a feature in the future to allow using personal Google accounts for our end users so we can take advantage of the Google Assignments (LTI 1.3) tool. ... We already have the old Google Apps/Drive tool installed in our Canvas system since 2017 but are looking at Google Meet and Google Assignments (LTI 1.3).  In order to use Google Meet and Google Assignments (LTI 1.3) do we have to have Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals and if so is there an option if we do not want to manage student Gmail/Google accounts but instead allow students and instructors use their own personal Gmail/Google accounts for Google Meet and Google Assignments (LTI 1.3)? With deprecation the development for the older LTI specifications will no longer get updates but still allows them to continue functioning.  If Instructure decides to go the next step of End of Life where the older LTI installations will be blocked from functioning or removed then hopefully Instructure will provide us all ample notice ahead of time to be able to update.  That may involve contacting third-party tool vendors and coordinating with end users to make the updates without too much interruption.  While I think most vendors seem to be offering LTI 1.3 support there may be community-based or free tools that may be a challenge to get the tool creator to update those. ... @djackson  If Canvas Student ePortfolios (rebranded name from Porfolium ePortfolio) will be replacing the legacy ePortfolio, what happens to our existing legacy ePortfolios?  Will Instructure be able to migrate all of our ePortfolios to Canvas Student ePortfolios for us?  Or are end users going to have to do their own Zip file backups?  Can the end user import the legacy ePortfolio Zip file backup into the new Canvas Student ePortfolios or will they need to manually add all the individual pieces into a new Canvas Student ePortfolio? Are there any actions needed from us before that migration? Any estimated target dates for when the legacy ePortfolio will be replaced with the new Canvas Student ePortfolios? Thank you! Michael D. After contacting the Badgr Support Team they were able to make some individual user updates to fix my issue and the one I had with an instructor.  I had also discovered that in Canvas the instructor had an old previous email address still "starred/favorited" so I deleted in her profile and the correct email became the primary email.  Not sure if I fixed or if Badgr Support Team that fixed my user issue also fixed the instructor issue too.  But good to know in the future if other users encounter similar issues then just contact Badgr Support Team (at least until Instructure takes over fully). @KristinL  Thank you, I just tested Badgr and it looks like I get a 500 server error from Badgr so I will work with Badgr Support. I just got a support item assigned to me that an instructor is now having issues with our previously installed Badgr (installed in 2019) that the new updated Terms of Service made the tool no longer work.  I have not looked into this yet but since I just learned of the news about Instructure acquiring Concentric Sky Badgr and is now rebranded as Canvas Badges then are there new LTI tool instructions I may need to reinstall this badging tool in our Canvas system?  I prefer to install in our root level (we have Sub-Accounts for our multi-colleges) with the Course Navigation having default=disabled since not all instructors use badging.  Currently I have Badgr installed separately in our two main Sub-Accounts. ... We use the Delete status before our semester starts but not after.  Then for Drops we use Inactive.  At the end of the course section end date after about 14 days we change all students to read-only Concluded (some instructors still allow student participation after end date but after 14 days only allow read-only).  Then after 30 days after course section end date we set to Inactive for all students (colleges do not want students or limit sharing of previous course info with next semester students). One of the issues with Concluded status was that it prevents instructors from assigning grades.  Instructors are supposed to input and be done with grading before the end of those 14 days but there are some with extenuating circumstances (wish Instructure would allow grading on Concluded).  For those exceptions we have to set in our Ellucian Colleague SIS system the enrollments to Incomplete status so our SIS Import code can bybass setting the enrollment statuses. Our colleges do not want the dropped students (even after Census) to have read-only access which Concluded status allows them so our only option is to use Inactive or Deleted statuses.  It was preferred to use Inactive instead of Deleted so the instructors can see the enrollment history and more immediately see when students drop their courses.  Also, any student disputes (such as claiming participation before instructor drops them) could be more easily reviewed while in Inactive state but if we use Deleted state we would need to develop an exception system for those individuals so our SIS Imports would not keep setting the enrollment status back to Deleted since it is not a Sticky field (been trying to propose we add new enrollment statuses in our Ellucian Colleague SIS system for student disputes as well as for students who violate the student code of conduct or honesty policy). If there was just the filtering checkboxes for the People roster view this would not be an issue.  Seems like a reasonable, simple, intuitive request for Instructure.  I hope they consider this and I will be mentioning to our Instructure CSM as well. ... Our instructors do not have permissions to change Canvas enrollment statuses.  That would require we allow the instructors the "Users - add / remove students in courses" permission which we cannot as we want our Canvas SIS Imports to be managing the enrollments based on the official data from our SIS system. Even if Instructure decoupled the permission to allow only changing the enrollment status to Concluded status that would still just cause more issues as instructors would mistakenly change student enrollment statuses.  However, Instructure should add a separate capability to allow instructors to restrict student access to their Canvas course in the cases for student disciplinary measures such as disruptive behavior affecting other students in the course or violating code of conduct as that is faster than waiting to have them contact Admissions to restrict the student. The solution (Wish List for Instructure) should be some simple solutions as to the filtering of the display of the People roster based on the enrollment statuses. Add three checkboxes for the filtering view on the People page. [ X ] Include Active Enrollments    ...checkmarked/enabled by default [    ] Include Inactive Enrollments    ...unchecked/disabled by default [    ] Include Prior/Concluded Enrollments    ...unchecked/disabled by default  [I do not like the current Prior Enrollments placement as many new instructors do not see it] That way the default People roster view will only show the Active enrollments at each visit to the People page.  Then if for some reason the instructor wants to see the other students with the other statuses then they can check or uncheck the relevant boxes. It would also be nice if Instructure added a "Print Roster" button that the instructor could use the filtered view to print out what they want.   (only Active, only Inactive, mix of Active and Inactive, only Prior/Concluded, ...etc.).   ... Flipgrid needs to be available as a system-wide LTI tool installation into the root level or Sub-Account level.  We do not allow instructors access to install Course level LTI tool installations like what Flipgrid only offers for better security to prevent rogue, unapproved, untested tools that instructors may install.  Instructors also should not have to worry about installing tools.  Let the Canvas Admin install once and then all instructors can use that tool (if the LTI has Course Navigation link then prefer Default Disabled since not all instructors may use that tool). Many other third-party tools support system-wide LTI tool installations and Flipgrid needs to get on board with that as well.  Instructor specific linkage can be done with pairing the tool to their third-party account. ...
