Bio:
As an experienced educator, dean, Tribal Liaison, and instructional designer, I have engaged in a wide range of roles and responsibilities in higher education. Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating engaging, interactive, and accessible learning experiences for college students, focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
As an instructional designer, I developed online learning experiences and multimedia materials incorporating Universal Design for Learning principles, Quality Matters, and TILT. I facilitated workshops on accessibility, DEI, RSI, and instructional design. Additionally, I collaborated with State Board departments and eLearning Councils on DEI, OER, Accessibility, ctcLink, and Guided Pathways initiatives. This included developing professional development resources and training in effective pedagogy, accessibility standards, curriculum design, course objectives, and technology integration for all delivery modalities. As an LMS administrator, I managed and maintained the system, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and providing technical support to faculty.
As a Tribal Liaison, I work with different Nations in our state to explore partnerships that best support their Nation-building endeavors and our students. I collaborate with various NGOs to bring resources to our students and create a sense of community on campus. I engage with students to bring events and speakers to campus and work with the Nations to decolonize and indigenize our campus. This includes redefining our approach to student support, teaching methods, and learning environments, going beyond Land Acknowledgments to enact real change.
As Dean of General Education, I have overseen the development and implementation of academic courses and programs, ensuring alignment with the college's mission, values, and educational goals. I have managed faculty recruitment, hiring, orientation, and professional development programs, developed and implemented academic policies and procedures. I have ensured compliance with federal and state laws and regulations related to education, including Title IX, Clery Act, and FERPA.
I have taught various Anthropology, Sociology, Criminology, Ethnic Studies, and Business courses. I have also served on committees such as the Systematic Evaluation and Assessment Council, various accrediting committees, tenure committees, the Inclusive Excellence Committee, and the Student Grievances Committee.
