Gabrielle Thomas is a passionate Academic Technology Specialist at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), where she plays a crucial role in leveraging technology to elevate educational experiences in the arts. With a Master of Science in Instructional Technology and Design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and 12 years of experience in technology and instructional design, Gabrielle brings a wealth of expertise to her role. At CVPA, Gabrielle excels in providing comprehensive support for Canvas, the institution’s primary learning management system. She is adept at developing a range of training resources and conducting workshops designed to help faculty and students fully utilize the platform’s features. Her proficiency in digital eLearning design and project management allows her to craft engaging and effective learning experiences that align with the college’s mission to nurture creativity and innovation in the arts. Before joining CVPA, Gabrielle served as a Media and STEAM Support Specialist at Greensboro Day School. In this role, she was responsible for designing and facilitating robotics and STEAM lessons for students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Her work extended beyond the classroom as she also coached high school eSports teams and conducted professional development workshops for faculty. Gabrielle’s experience at High Point University as a 25Live Administrator further highlights her versatility. She managed staff, trained faculty, staff, and students on the 25Live platform, and created instructional content using ADDIE design principles. Her role required strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of instructional design to ensure smooth operations and effective training. Outside her professional life, Gabrielle enjoys a rich personal life filled with interests and passions. She cherishes time spent with her spouse and two beloved fur babies. Her enthusiasm for video games and virtual reality, particularly those involving defending against zombies and bugs, reflects her love for immersive experiences. Additionally, Gabrielle is passionate about cosplay and enjoys connecting with friends by attending plays and concerts. Her profound appreciation for the performing arts was so influential that it inspired her Lord of the Rings-themed wedding, underscoring her dedication to creativity and the fantastical aspects of the performing arts.
