We provide curriculum for several schools using Canvas and would like to organize students by school, even though students from different schools can be enrolled in the same course. Is there a way to do this? We want school admins to be able to see which students are enrolled in which courses and generate reports, too. The LMS Neo/Matrix has what they call Organizations. In addition to being enrolled in courses, students can be assigned to organizations and the organization admin has access to grades, etc. Does Canvas have a feature that works like Matrix Organizations? Individual teachers currently have observer accounts, which are great, but I don't think that's a good solution for this objective. Thanks.

Thanks. Unfortunately, exporting the gradebook doesn't give us the info we need. We need to be able to see what was graded based on date parameters, not the entire gradebook. Is there a way to get the information based on the dates the assignments were graded? Thanks.

I'd like our teachers to be able to see how many papers they've graded each month. I can access this information by using the gradebook history view and filtering it for the dates and by the name of the instructor. Can this information be exported as a CSV? Thanks.

If a course is still active, and the box at the top of the grades page is unchecked (so that the total grade is shown), it will not show a grade that reflects what should have been turned in to date. The current grade can be misleading b/c a student could have a great grade on one assignment with several missing, and the grade shown will just reflect that one good grade without factoring in the few that are missing. I'd like a way to view a date-driven grade total rather than one based on all assignments. Is there a way to see set up grades so that unchecking the box will display a total grade based on assignments that are open to date? Unchecking the box on the grades page works great at the end of a course b/c all assignments should have been turned in. Thanks! Melanie

This request has been on the table for as long as we've been using Canvas. It is mind-boggling that teachers can see all submission and students cannot, especially since it's the students that need to learn from feedback on prior assignments.

I called and found out how to fix this so I thought I'd share the info with you. Go to Grades (in an individual course or the Blueprint) Scroll to the far right to Total Click the 3 dots Set the preference to points or percentage. (If you see "Display as Points," it's currently displaying as percentage.)

I have the same problem but want the opposite result. Some of our courses show grades as traditional grade percentages and others as fractions of the total number of points possible. I cannot figure out how to get them all to show as percentages and have spent about two hours searching.

How is that report working for you? We are interested in the same thing. A visually appealing, quick way parents and see if their students are where they should be in the course.

Yes. I do mean can each teacher have control to publish/unpublish just their section of the course. And I guess the answer is no. Melanie Wasko

I need to track how many papers each of our teachers grades each month. Is there a way to do that without counting manually? Our teachers teach different sections of different courses, so I don't think that generating a report based on the course will work.

I don't understand why this issue is 2 years old and hasn't been fixed yet, AND it has 221 up votes. It seems ridiculous that students lose teacher feedback just by re-submitting assignments. Teachers should not need to download annotated PDFs and send them to their students when the information is on Canvas. Please fix this. We have only been with Canvas since the end of August, but this issue has already caused much frustration. We teach writing, and the vast majority of our instruction comes via teacher feedback. This makes absolutely no sense.
