Hi We are based in Sweden and have set our default language to Swedish. We are about to start a course where the students speak Spanish. Is there any way we can make sure they see a Spanish login page the first time they try to log in? Regards Tim Littleton

Wow Chris! That was the quickest and best response ever. Exactly what we needed. As you mentioned, templates seem to be the way for us regarding new courses. We have a number of ongoing courses but we will just knuckle down and fix those manually. Thanks for your input. Best Tim

Hi, Does anyone know of a method for changing navigation settings for all courses at the same time? For example we might want to hide the Files item from the menu for all of our courses. Rather than opening the settings page for each course and then applying the change there, we could do it in one place for all of our courses. Any help with this would be appreciated. Hi, We think that the way in which blueprints synchronize with existing courses creates such uncertainty that we have decided to dissociate the course after creation. We create a complex blueprint containing as much static information as possible then create a new empty course and associate this with the blueprint. The course is synchronized and all is as expected. The new course looks great and is ready to hand over to the teacher. At this point we are going to dissociate the new course. This will leave the course in the hands of the teacher without the risk of any future synchronizing affecting the course. I am reaching out to hear if anyone has tried similar and if so how did it work out? We are worried that we may experience unexpected behaviour to the newly created course. Any input is welcome. When students want to send a message to teachers or other students they can use the inbox function. The only available recipients are teachers, teaching assistants or students. What we would like is for students to see a list of administrators from which they could choose. Alternatively the help-bar function Ask your instructor a question could be modified or copied to allow students to send to admins. Is there any way of achieving this? Best Tim

It turns out that the teacher was not clicking on "Submit" for each comment. So the file was uploaded but not available for the students.

Hi, When students have multiple attempts at an assignment we can view 2 versions of their submissions but not more. We recently had a case where students had 3 attempts but in order to see all 3 submissions we had to leave Speedgrader first. There is a dropdown list but this only shows 2 attempts. If we click on "See all quiz attempts" then we are taken out of the Speedgrader interface which is a real shame. Is there any way of viewing more than 2 attempts in Speedgrader? Another oddity is that when other students submit multiple entries the "See all quiz attempts" message is shown even for students that have only made 1 submission. One more oddity is that sometimes it works just fine. 🙂 Why does it work sometimes and not others? We would be very grateful for any help. Regards Tim Littleton

In case anyone is interested, I managed to get pdf and txt files to work but not docx. Pretty useless if you can't use the most common file type on the planet.

Hi, We have uploaded files (word docx) containing feedback comments to an assignment in Speedgrader. The upload went fine and we as instructors and admin can see the files, however the students can´t see the file. If we write text comments the students can see them but not the files. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim Littleton

Thanks, Brian, Announcements seem like the way to go. Unfortunately, there is no way to schedule this via API. It will mean admin will have to remember to add this scheduled announcement manually. Not quite automatic. Thanks for your help.

Hi, This seems like a really basic issue but I can't figure it out. Example. We only have online lessons. Course A has a start date 2 weeks from now. The course and Module 1 are published with introductory text so students are not faced with an empty Canvas. 43 students are enrolled via API 9 days before the course start date (any number of students and days) They complete their enrollment, have a look around and then exit Canvas as there is nothing more to see until the course starts. The day before the course start date I would like to remind the enrolled students that they should log into Canvas tomorrow as the course is starting. How do I automatically remind the students 1 day before the start date? Very grateful for any suggestions. Regards Tim

Hi. Is it possible to generate groups that take into account attendance? I would like to create groups of 2 students automatically for a class of 40 students. I need to make sure that no one is left without a partner because the chosen partner is sick. Now I generate groups and then check and change things manually after checking attendance. Background: We stream almost all of our lessons using the Vidyo system. When we are finished for the day, the recording from the day's lesson is uploaded to Vimeo. To make this more accessible for students we have a link in Canvas to the online-classroom which means they don't need to type in a URL. We do the same with the resulting film on Vimeo, we copy the embed code from Vimeo and paste this into Canvas. Problem: Or not so much of a problem as an irritation: We use other LTI apps in Canvas that give us direct access to our resources from different suppliers. However, I can't find any LTI's that connect correctly to either Vidyo or Vimeo. Vimeo can connect to public films on their website but not the private(hidden) films that we store there. There is or rather has been an app called Vidyo For Canvas(VFC) but I have been in contact with the creator, IDSolutions and they say they don't support this app any more. Question: Does anybody have any advice that would help us have a tighter integration with Vimeo and Vidyo? Grateful for any help.
