Thank you so much for this fantastic tool. I've been using it for about 3 years to bulk-edit my due dates and even change assignment names to use a consistent naming pattern. I'm looking over the code and I see potential to use it for bulk editing quizzes as well. One example would be to switch a group of quizzes from "graded" to "practice" Is there any copyright limitation on my repurposing the code?

I'm at a loss on how to create grade passback. I've used the Canvas Live API tool to check the course ID, Student ID and assignment ID. All seem to work fine. When I try to use Score using those ID's, I keep getting errors. I've filled in all the required fields, including the iso 8601 time stamp. I keep getting this error: { "errors": [ { "message": "An error occurred.", "error code": "unprocessable_entity" } ] } and a response code of 422 despite using the Live API interface to look up the student ID from the course. When I look back at the courses returned when I looked for a list of my courses, I noticed this parameter: "grade_passback_setting": null, Is that the cause? If so - how can I set it to allow grade passback? I know apps can use grade passback - We use GoReact and it works very well. I just haven't figure out the process for setting it up.

I've found some information on this. For pretty much all of the identifiers - there is no specified formula. The identifier must be unique, but beyond that there is not specified requirement that I can find. What people have been doing is creating a hash code from the quiz contents. This pretty guarantees that the identifier will be unique for each assessment. I put it to the test and it worked. On another note: A better term for this subject is the QTI API.

However, when I try to udpate the grade using the score endpoint, I keep getting an error with the code: unprocessable_entity I don't know what else to troubleshoot - I've filled in all the required fields. Could it be the timestamp?

Thank you so much! Canvas does not have any published API method for creating question banks. The workaround I'm looking at is importing QTI files. That way it is possible to create the question banks. Your answer provides the path I need.

I'm creating an app to convert Vimeo Showcases into Canvas quizzes. I'm ready to try exporting the list of json files to the qti format. I've seen example qti format files and can get the json file MOSTLY exported to the right format, but I can't figure out how to set assessment identifier and item identifier codes. Where do those come from? I assume they are used to prevent two assessments having the same code, but what is the method used to set those?
Here are some example identifiers I got from the Kansas State qti converter:

Thank you for this information! It saved me. I was fixing a quiz that had errors and accidentally deleted one that students had taken. I tried this method to recover the quiz. EVERYTHING was restored, including the student grades.
