Apologies for starting a new topic, but felt it was needed. When researching the Course Pacing tool, I could have sworn I saw a guide that had a "link" indicator, when setting Course Pacing, to combine all items within the module, then allow a duration to be set for the entire module. Did I dream this? 🤔 Here is our use: We are a competency-based institution. Each module reflects a competency within the course, and all items within the module are associated with the competency. (Resources, models, student practice, assessments.) Each competency/module is assigned a set number of hours it should be completed in for the student to achieve satisfactory progress. So Module 1 may be assumed to take 10 hours, Module 2 may be five, and so on. I would rather not have to break down the entire module to award individual times to each required item, especially if it doesn't come out equally. (Module 1 = 10 hours, but may have 4 required submissions...) The second part of this is that we would like to run reports or view analytics to see if the majority of students truly are completing modules in the assigned number of hours, or if we need to make adjustments to those expectations on an institutional level. Is it possible now (or will it be) to view these types of reports on a course-by-course basis?

I'm curious about this same question but it doesn't seem as though the "solution" includes an answer at all. @christopher_ma5 Did you ever get a response?

@AllisonHowell Thank you, this is how I hoped it would work; however the test did not. My Sandbox course is set to Term participation for FY23 (July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.) The student was invited (and accepted) today - November 2, 2022. All due dates on the student's view are calculated from the July 1 date. The gradebook from my view shows all assignments as missing (red). ETA - I believe I found the problem. This "student" had been enrolled before. (It's a student account I set up with my personal email.) I had removed the student from the course, then added them back. Even though these were new assignments created today, and the student had not submitted any work prior, it must have retained the original start date. This could potentially be a problem with our secondary students who are added and removed from courses regularly. ETA Part 2 - I added another student who had been in this course but removed a long time ago, and it seems to be working fine. I tested changing sections (with different course pacing) and it adjusted due dates even though a submission had been made. Important to note that due date updates on the student view are not immediate.

Currently testing the capabilities of Course Pacing in my Sandbox. The course Term is set to FY2023 and dates have been set at the admin level to indicate July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Participation is set to Course. When entering Course Pacing from the Module page, the start and end dates listed above are already populated. I am trying to set up pacing for a new part time student who (hypothetically) started class today. It appears that due dates are calculated by the course start date, not the date a student first accesses the course. Is this correct? How does this work for rolling start dates as advertised?

Hoping there is a solution to my issue that I am just overlooking. I will try to explain this as simply as I can! SITUATION A Canvas course for student orientation is built. It consists of multiple modules regarding items that all new students of the institution must have access to. (Technical college, adults and high school students.) One module is an interactive Storyline package with policies and procedures, etc., and a couple quizzes. This SCORM package is uploaded into the Canvas course as a graded assignment to verify that students have viewed all slides and passed quizzes at 80% or higher. PROBLEM CHANGES! Policies change, contact information changes, resources change, staff and faculty changes. While I have done everything humanly possible to generalize information and link to our website (which should host the most current updates), changing the content of this Storyline project throughout the year is going to be inevitable. I am insistent that we continue to use the same course shell for all new students in the entire fiscal year for record keeping purposes. SOLUTIONS (?) Unpublish the outdated assignment and publish a new one each time there is a change "Old" students will have access to the new information; however, will reflect no grade Publish a new one for use "from this day forward" Will require using sections to assign the old one to past students, and new one to everyone else. Will get really messy if multiple changes are made in a year. This option gives me major anxiety because there is not an "everyone EXCEPT" option which really needs to happen! Do away with Storyline all together Doesn't necessarily solve the problem because even if the information was broken into individual assignments, changes are still going to need to be made. BUT then again, assignment information can be changed and retain a students' existing score. I spent a lot of time on the Storyline project, Articulate is expensive, and that would feel like such a waste to toss it completely. The million dollar solution that I have not thought of yet..... Thank you to whoever can fill in #4 for me! I would make you cookies, but that wouldn't be very realistic.

Using Learning Mastery Gradebook - The student's view keeps Outcomes in proper numbered order; however, the instructor Learning Mastery Gradebook does not. The views below show: 1) Instructor Gradebook, numbered 7, 11, 2, 3.3, 3.1, 3.2, etc... 2) Outcomes set-up properly by number 3) Student View listed with numbers in proper order Does anyone have a solution to this? I can click and drag the instructor labels into order, like I can in the regular gradebook, but when I refresh the page they revert back to the incorrect order.

This would be a fabulous addition; however, I notice that with New Quizzes, even if a quiz needs to be manually graded, it does not show up in the To-Do list either. For example, if a New Quiz is ONLY an essay question, or includes an essay question, we must still wade through each quiz individually in order to find those that need graded. (The student's submitted quiz itself will have a notice at the top that says "Question X needs to be graded." No way of knowing that until you are actually IN the submitted quiz though.

Rubrics + External Tools Currently, I have multiple courses linked to External Tools wherein the grades from the tools are automatically updated in my Canvas Gradebook. Within Canvas, I have assignments created with the external link embedded to take students directly to the proper assignment. (TestOut and MindTap specifically) I can set a possible amount of points, even if it doesn't align with the pre-programmed assignment, but I can not find a place to add a rubric. I would like students to get immediate feedback if they are required to re-take an assessment. Photos included.
