Hello, Melanie! So I've not yet found a way to publish the slides so that you can't scroll through manually - the previous slide, next slide, and play buttons always exist on the published slide screen once the slide deck is embedded: The one thing that you can do is make sure when you go to publish the document you uncheck the box that says "Start slideshow as soon as the player loads"; by doing that, at least the slideshow won't scroll forward on it's own: You should still be able to click on the hyperlinks on the slides that will take you to different places on the slide deck...you'll just also have the option on the bottom-left to move forward in a linear fashion on the slideshow. I hope that this clears up any questions that you had - if not, please feel free to ask those. Have a great day!

Thank you! Happy to be able to help. I have a few videos on modules...what specifically are you looking for? If there are specific questions around modules I can work to address those.

Good morning! If you're looking to quickly send messages to specific (or all) users in a Canvas course, I would recommend using the Canvas Inbox/Conversations tool. This messaging tool lives in Canvas on the Global Navigation bar, and allows you to quickly drill down and message individuals in classes that you are either leading or are enrolled in. As far as an overview of how this tool works, I would recommend you taking a look at this how-to article to start with. As a side note, if users have turned on notification settings for messaging they'll also receive an email with the same conversation message from Canvas - this way, students receive/can reply in two places (their email inbox and their Canvas inbox). If you have any further questions, please let me know and I would be more than happy to address those. Have a great day!

Good morning, Jill - thanks for your question! You are correct, you can make specific content a requirement in Modules; you also can add prerequisites, so that specific modules don't open up until other modules are completed. This feature allows for work-flow to operate without direct interaction from the teacher, and is great for self-paced activities. This article provides a brief overview of how these features work - after reading, if you have further questions about how to use and best practices please don't hesitate to reach back out and ask those questions. I'll be here to help! Thanks, Jill...have a great day!

Good evening, Carla! I'm sorry you're having difficulties, I will do my best to help. Before I can do that, however, I have two clarifying questions: 1) For the Google Slides themselves, are you embedding the published version of the slide deck into a Canvas Page/Assignment/etc.? 2) What device are you/the students accessing Canvas on, and on that device are you using a browser (i.e. Google Chrome) or the Canvas App? With these answers I should be better able to support you. Thanks, Carla, have a great week!

Good evening, Dominic! To view your course as a student Canvas has built in a great tool, called Student View, in each course - you can find it on your homepage. Here is an article outlining how student view works. Each course has it's own "Student View". As a disclaimer, remember that you'll need to publish specific content if you wish to see it as your test student. Just as your students wouldn't see unpublished content, neither will your test student. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reach out. Have a great week!

Good evening, Jennifer! As long as one of you has teaching access to the classroom, they can add the other individual through the "People" tab in the course. Simply open the course, navigate to the People tab in that course, and then click on the +People button at the top-right of the page: Typically I add users to courses through email (since the registered to Canvas with that credential) but you have a few options of how to add. Make sure on "Role" you select Teacher, and then choose the correct section. Once done, hit next to see a preview screen - if all looks good, click on the blue "Add Users" button. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out. Take care, and good luck!

Good evening, David - thanks for your question! As long as both courses are in the same organization (domain), you can copy over any course content (including modules) to another course. If you want to see that process in action, I would recommend visiting this guide. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, David...take care!

Good evening, Teresa! Thanks for adding your question to the Canvas Community. As far as a short answer, yes, I would naturally assume that you would use that Sandbox course to "play around" in and try things out. A good best practice for an organization would be to mass create Sandbox courses for their users, and then those users have their each area to practice and hone their Canvas skills. You might be able to create your own Sandbox, as well, depending on organizational permissions. Typically on your Dashboard, at the top-right of the page, you might see the "Start a New Course" button. If you do, you can use that to build your own Sandbox. For starters, before you do anything else, I would reach out to a Canvas admin in your organization to determine if they set that Sandbox course up for you already; depending on their answer you can either use that course or possibly create your own. I hope that this answer helps - if you need anything else, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Teresa...have a great week!

Good evening, Arjun! I'm not sure if I've ever ran into a limit before, and I've heard of courses with enrollments into the thousands. I found another thread on Community that not only discusses this topic, but also provides some great resources/conversation around how to manage a large class - I'll link that thread here. Thanks, Arjun! If you have any more questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. Take care, have a great week!

Good evening, Kevin - thanks for your question! Depending on how you exported it determines where you can find it to import the course file into your new Canvas account, but I would point you to this guide first to see if it answers your questions. If you would like additional support, or need to dive in a little deeper, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, Kevin - have a great week!

Good afternoon, Kelsie - welcome to the Canvas Community! There are many different ways to take a screenshot, depending on what device you're working on. I would have you checkout this website first, and then if you're unable to find the answer you're looking for there please let me know. Have a great rest of your week!

Good afternoon, Elizabeth - welcome to the Canvas Community! The task you're trying to do is called cross-listing, where you can combine numerous sections and their enrollments under the same course shell. An overview of this process is contained in this article here; if you need more details provided, I would be happy to do so! We had to do this for many of our courses last fall in my district, so I got in some good practice! Have a great rest of your week!

Good afternoon, Beth - welcome to the Canvas Community! Although I think I understand what you're talking about in your question, I see two pieces there that I want to address separately. First-off, let's talk about embedding Google Slides so that if they have hyperlinks students can click on them. If you want those links to live there, what I have been doing is "Publishing to the web" your slide deck and then grabbing that embed code off of the slides and placing it into your Rich Content Editor. If you need further instructions on that I would be happy to provide those. If you're talking about the intractability piece of students having their own copy and interacting with the slides that way (like they might on a platform like Google Classroom), there is an LTI tool that does just that called Google Assignments. I'll link an article to that tool here, but know that it does require a Canvas admin in your district to set-up for use. If you have any other questions, or need me to expand on any of responses more, please let me know and I'd be happy to do so. Have a great rest of your week!

Good afternoon, Myra - welcome to the Canvas Community! To delete old pages in a course, click on the three vertically-stacked dots once you navigate to the "Pages" tab in your course (when you first click on the "Pages" tab in course navigation, you may have to select the blue "View All Pages" button towards the top-left of your screen to see all pages). Once you've clicked on the three vertical dots next to the page you'd like to delete, you should have the option to "Delete" the page: If you're still having issues working through this, please let me know and I would be happy to help you further. Have a great rest of your week!

Good afternoon, Lauren - welcome to the Canvas Community! I would first point you to this article around deleting courses in Canvas...typically, if it's not a manually-created course (a course that you, as the instructor, created) you won't be able to delete it unless provided specific Admin permissions. Please take a look at the article, and if you have any further questions I would be happy to address those. Thanks!

Good afternoon, DJ - welcome to the Canvas Community! I haven't used Equatio in a while, but from my past experience with it the math editor that built into the RCE does almost the exact same thing inside of Canvas. Since you're using the new Rich Content Editor, this is what you should see in order to open the Equation Editor in Canvas: *the equation editor, for me, is under the three vertically stacked dots labeled "More" Once open, you'll see various tabs that hold all kinds of math symbols. I find that I rarely leave the "Basic" tab, but there are many options out there. Once you're done building your equation select "Insert Equation" and it will be placed inside of your RCE as an image. The nice part about this is that you can resize as you see fit. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, have a great day!

Hello, Pamela - welcome to the Canvas Community! I've had a few cohorts this summer that we put together in our district to onboard Canvas, and many other teachers had the same question! From what I'm seeing, you want to create a "Page" so that when your students click on "Home" they are taken to that specific page you have created. If this is indeed what you're looking for, please take a look at this video and see if it helps walk you through what you're trying to do - I created this video trying to help teachers submit a specific assignment to my Canvas course, but this process is essentially what I believe you're trying to accomplish. If I'm off-base and you need something different, please don't hesitate to ask. I hope that I was able to help - have a great day!
