I observed that student accounts I created have access to also start a New Course. Please how can I disable this function for a student?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello! If you're an account admin, you can find these settings in the Admin Console.
Navigate to Canvas, and select the Admin tab and your institution's account.
From there, scroll down and choose "Settings" on the navigation menu:
Under the "Settings" tab, I normally scroll all the way down to bottom to see the settings of who can create courses:
You'll definitely want to unselect students, but if you find that students still have the ability to create course I would de-select the middle option (Users with no enrollments). That should fix the problem.
Good luck!

Hi @swiftdigitech Welcome to the Canvas Community.
In the Free For Teachers version of Canvas, any user is allowed to create courses. However, in the paid version of Canvas, this is one of the many role permissions that can be managed. For more information about the differences between Canvas Free For Teachers and paid Canvas, please refer to the Canvas Account Comparisons resource. Specifically, Account and sub-account level controls and options is the feature you'd need to manage permissions.
