Hello, I have created an "Ungraded survey" in my Canvas course, as an instructor. What I would like to do is make this survey compulsory to complete in order for a student to progress with the course. So I do not intend to give a specific grade for this survey, only to make it compulsory (so students that really do not wish to take part in that would need to opt-out). Would that be possible? I have not been able to find any option within the Survey settings that enables that. Many thanks in advance!

Hello, I had multiple modules within my course that I would like to set a timer for them to be visible to students automatically after a certain date. Each module has a number of files. I have set a few safety measures: - each file within the module has the small calendar icon, being visible after the date X - the module itself, containing all these aforementioned files will only be visible as a whole after date X As of now, the date has passed and the module is not visible to students. Should each of these modules be also published? I am worried about the safety of these files that I am working with. If I have the two aforementioned safety measures for each module and each file within a module, can I safely publish all these modules and be sure that they will only be visible after a specific date X? Hello, thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I can not give you the exact screenshots of my Quiz because it is private material. However, my problem can be replicated for any Quiz that has multiple questions, a description, together with "Show one question at a time" + "Lock question after answering option". I have created a dummy Quiz to showcase this : This Quiz has 3 points, with 3 questions, showing one question at a time + locking the questions after answering; also, it has a dummy quiz description, as shown above. Now, when previewing the exam, this is what I have for the first question : And for question 2 : As can be seen, the quiz instructions are repeated for each question. For this particular Quiz, this may not be an issue. But considering that the Quiz instructions can have a really extensive length for another quiz, the student would need to scroll down for each individual question to get to the question; if there are tens of questions, this can be troublesome. Would there be any way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

Hello, I have made a Canvas quiz with the following settings : - graded quiz - locked questions after answering + show one question at a time For this Quiz, I have a big block of text under "Quiz instructions". I would like to have these instructions only shown to the students once at the beginning of the quiz. Unfortunately, these instructions are shown for each question; since the quiz showcases one question at a time + locking the question after answering, I would like the instructions not to be shown for each question; instead, if the instructions can only be shown once at the beginning that would be perfect. Would there be any way to achieve this via the Quiz settings? Many thanks in advance!

Hello! I have created a quiz. For some of the questions, I want to manually add a picture to the question from my laptop. More specifically, when I edit the quiz, I go to the "Questions" section and manually edit the questions for which I want to include a picture. I was wondering if there is a way to include a picture without uploading it to the course content. Just like copy-pasting it to the relevant question, without any uploading; copy-pasting it to me did not work. Alternatively, if a picture needs to first be manually uploaded to Canvas before including it in one question: if the picture is uploaded in the "Course files" section, and the "Files" section is not available for students to see, they should not be able to see the picture, would this be correct? Is there a folder that is surely hidden from students where pictures can reliably be uploaded and used in Quizzes for which the instructor would know for sure that the students do not have access to? Just to clarify matters, what I mean by not having access to is not being able to access the image outside of actually taking the Quiz. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

Hello! I have made a quiz in Canvas that has this setting: "Graded quiz" and "View responses" set at "No". However, upon previewing the quiz and submitting it, I still receive which questions I got correct and which I did not (even though the correct answer is not shown) and my grade for the quiz. How can I prevent this from happening? I would like once the students take the Quiz, for them not to be informed on which questions they got wrong or right and also not to be shown their quiz grade.

Thank you very much for your answer! So, if there is a quiz of ~40 questions, and I wish that each student gets the question and answers in a random order, it would suffice to put all the questions of the exam in a Canvas group (for the questions for which I want their order to be delivered randomly to the students) the questions for which I want a fixed position outside the group, and set the "Answer shuffling" to "On". Would this be correct? Thank you in advance!

Hello, I was interested in generating question order randomization for a Canvas Quiz. In my Quiz, I have every question in a "Question group". The setting for the quiz is selected on "One question at a time" and "Lock questions after responding". I have watched a post on Canvas support where it has been explained that once you have each question in its corresponding "Question group", each question group will be shown to students in random order. So two students taking the same exam would see the same question groups, but not in the same order. However, for me, once I select the "Preview quiz" option, I see all the Question groups one after the other in the order that I submitted them in the Canvas quiz. Is there an option to select the "Randomize question order" option somewhere? Thank you in advance!

Hello, I have created a quiz in Canvas by importing a QTI (zip) file. The QTI zip file was generated in R/exams package with the function "exams2canvas()". Upon importing the QTI file in the course content, I have noticed that the weight of each question in the quiz (which would differ from question to question) has not been implemented correctly in Canvas (all the questions had a weight of 1, or worth one point). Furthermore, upon trying to manually change the points associated with each of the aforementioned questions, they would not have their associated number of points changed, no matter how many times I would try. All the questions would still be worth one point. Would there be a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!
