I still have several students who are not getting pushed over from PowerSchool. My teachers are needing the students in ASAP. I am generally having to resort to manually creating these students accounts, so I started making the students temporary log ons. Does anyone have any idea what will happen if I create the account using the same info that PowerSchool would use and turning on override UI changes?
Would this overwrite the manual entry once data is fixed in PowerSchool?
It is currently set to off. What happens when it is on?

@james_sanzin - The What are SIS Imports? guide gives a lot of detail that might help. It is definitely still confusing, though, and I have to refresh my memory every time I do SIS imports. We use Banner so our experience may vary, but I think the Override UI changes option will allow the PowerSchool data to overwrite your manually created accounts.

Another helpful reference is Canvas' SIS Import format documentation:
SIS Import Format Documentation - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation
It shows which fields are "sticky" for each feed type. Sticky fields will retain their UI-entered values even if the record is re-sent via subsequent SIS imports, unless those SIS imports are sent with the "override UI changes" flag turned on.
We don't use PowerSchool, so I'm not familiar with those specific integration settings, but if you can tell the PowerSchool feed to override UI changes, it'll be able to change the sticky-field values for the records that you've entered manually.

I think you may be ok as long as you include the SIS integration id which for powerschool is the student's dcid. You can also talk to your CSM about changing your partial vs full sync to a better schedule so the students come over faster.
We are giving the Canvas Admins area a little bit of love (especially questions that are really, really old) and just want to check in with you. This will also bring this question new attention.
